How do you make wine from ice?![]()
I know this one!
- Melt ice.
- Distill until water has all evaporated.
- Add wine.

How do you make wine from ice?![]()
When I went to college, one of my classmates did that. two suit cases with levis, wranglers and I'm pretty sure he threw in a few bottles of Jack Daniels in for good measure. that was back in the eighties.
Oh. That guy.I'd ask if it was so and so, but I can't recall his name. I can see his face plainly. SMH.

Yeah. There's a tendency in current recordings to have the 'thud' of the kick drum be the bottomiest sound on the tune w/ the "bass" sounding like a guitar an octave lower. Not my cuppa.Isn't that the truth. We all get some of the reasoning, but we want to sound like what we sound like, not what someone who may have never heard the band play think they should sound like.

Thank you much for the replies. I appreciate them. I have only had the bass a short time and it is still wearing the factory strings. I first thought it was the roundwounds, then thought perhaps the nut was cut too wide, and the strings were moving a bit, then thought something was loose. There is a high pitched, tinny buzz, or slight rattle up high, especially on the D and G strings. Ordering some EB Cobalt flats (there are none in this town) and heading for my long time tech. I am looking forward to getting his take on the frets. Take care.

Ahem! That was one I was grilling @JIO about his favorite hummers a week or so back, like 1000 pages ago
love it when guitarists tell you they “prefer you playing” a 5 string…….I tell them i only do that with 7 string guitarists…Exactly.
I started noticing a few years back that at many shows the kick was like the hammer of Thor and the lowest thing heard. No kick that I've ever heard sounds how they generally get mixed in a big setting these days. I like a punchy kick, not for it sound like it's a 48" kick drum. I guess we have subs and hip-hop to thank for much of this that.
And stupid sound people.Exactly.

My wife is a country fan and I occasionally go to shows with her. We saw Alan Jackson at the Kodak Theater a few years ago. All kick drum. No bass. I was miserable.Yeah. Always good to repost that every couple of months.Keep us posted on the outcome!
For anyone curious, & new to 3 point bridge system (the traditional one, not aftermarkets like babicz/hipshot). Here's the post i was speaking of earlier. I'm sure many know of this one, thought i'd bring it as a refresher for all of us - newcomers & long time lurkers xD
Gibson/Epiphone 3 point bridge setup.
SIT Power Steels or Dunlop Marcus Miller Stainless Steel Superbrights. I currently have the Superbrights on mine and it sounds great.I have been busy for a few days. I declare thread bankruptcy and won't even try to catch up!
The '15 got out to play last night and it needs a good setup. I haven't played it for too long. The tapes didn't sound great either. Ont it's own, it sounds wonderfully thumpy with tapes, but it recedes more that I like. Thump is good, but there needs to be some snarl.

I saw a couple shows that were near unbearable because the kick drum was overmiced. I don't understand the point. My wife is a country fan and I occasionally go to shows with her. We saw Alan Jackson at the Kodak Theater a few years ago. All kick drum. No bass. I was miserable.
