Thunderbird Club

Some great ones here, probably not all inclusive, but still some great ones…
The 40 best basslines of all time

They left out this one - one of my faves. I don't know for a fact, but it sounds like a Fender VI to me...

Mesmerizing. Never watched the show, this is the first I recall hearing it.

I'm a Super-fan of David Lynch and Twin Peaks. Watched its late 80's- early '90s TV run when new and a number of times since. I have a DVD of the recent version (from a few years ago) and have watched it twice so far. (due to watch again soon) Also watched a 4hr lecture on YouTube of a breakdown of what the recent series meant, twice. One either isn't into him or his art, or like me - you can become obsessed. (in a good way)

Well done. Compartment release? I assume all done under a local as an outpatient procedure. Plastic surgeons are really well versed in pain-free surgery and minimal impact (cosmetic and functional). Having my cubital tunnel released, I felt so good, I never needed any narcotics (or any other pain relief). Still, enjoy the drugs.

To my mind, there is never a reason to forego treatment. All you are doing is robbing yourself of useful time.

As always, I may be an outlier.
Yes, local and outpatient by a plastic surgeon. Pain free at the time of surgery but hurts like an SOB right now. Might be because he found and removed a pea sized cyst while he was in there. I have a controlled substance Rx I can fill if the pain gets worse. Just hate to start using that stuff since it’s so addictive.

had a really jealous gf once who rubbed my undies in poison oak when she packed me for a tour..:bawl:
Yikes! I’ll take the failed stair pushes vs that evil torture.

I have Metzlers on the Triumph and Shinkos on the DRZ at the moment. The Metzlers will be replaced by Pirellis pretty soon. Old tires on a motorcycle are a bad idea even if there's plenty of tread left. Four wheels? Traction is optional.
I won’t take my Porsches on a track without fresh Pirelli track tires. If you value your life, the condition of the car and the potential to compete in the top tier, fresh track tires are a must. It ain’t cheap, but neither is replacing a totaled car.

One of these days I’m gonna break down and buy a looper. Not much value with a bass on a gig, but there’s just so much cool composing stuff you can do with them in a studio setting. And since I’m not gigging any more I might actually get some use out of one. Anyone want to chime in with a super intuitive and high quality dedicated looper?

Prerequisite - the technology and user interface can’t get in the way of creative moments. I’m by no means a Luddite, but I detest technology that gets in the way of progress, menu driven pull down screens with multiple options are a waste of my time. I’d rather have one device that does it’s job superbly at the push of a button vs one device that does multiple jobs pretty well after you make the right selections for each option.

Plastic surgeons (the ones I know) do great work. Although most think about boob jobs and facelifts, it is some of the most demanding training as it is all about reconstruction and function. One of the toughest residencies to get into.

Mine loaded the surgical area with local anesthetic so that I was numb for hours afterwards.

Cyst on the fascia would be painful and could impair function... Beware of recurrence; if you are prone to them, they will recur in different spots each hand.

Fill the script and take it. Be disciplined and don't take too much, but manage the pain.*

* Unless you have a previous substance problem, in which case you will know what you need to do.

I have a two loopers (Boss RC-1 & DigiTech Jamman) and two Digitech digital delay/samplers (2sec and an 8sec version). I used them a lot in the mid '90s to mid 2000's playing with improv trio's. Never attempted the tight layering like in that vid but have seen some amazing use of them like that. They both are really fun. The loopers are basic trappers/storers of input/information, but the delay/samplers have more expressive potential once you trap a (short) sample. (change pitch rate/speed, over-layer new input while another input is decaying etc) They are like playing another instrument.

Here's one from '07 with the KGK trio - bass/drums/guitar - no overdubs - all layers created from loopers/delay units in real time.
