Thunderbird Strap Lock question.

I have an Epiphone Thunderbird and I was given a pair of Schaller straplocks, the only problem is the screw that goes into the neck of the Bass is too big for the straplocks, Before I go out and buy different straplocks I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions that may fit the Bass.

Go to a hardware store and get a smaller screw

The only thing I am worried about there is, The screw if smaller wouldnt stay secure in the hole from the previous neck screw.

Correct way: Fill old screw hole with a glued-in hardwood dowel, and re-drill.

Field-Expedient way: Break off a few toothpicks in the hole and run the new screw in there.

I just bought a set of Schaller Black Chrome Security Locks for my Epi Classic IV. Th eEpi screw was a tad smaller; but, it fit in the Schaller button. I installed it using the original screws and it seems fine
