Thank you guys! I just ordered one of the Gator bags. Soooo much better than the zippered plastic thing (that a comforter came in) that I have used on occasion.

I'm struggling a little with my new-to-me TF550B.
I've been clipping in the input stage at much lower gain than I would expect. With my passive Skjold 5 string, I can't really get the gain higher than 9:30 or 10:00 before the tone seems to compress notably. This same bass does not cause any similar trouble with my other amps.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Well Ken, of course I realize that is what a gain knob is for...I've never run across one where 75% of the travel was unusable though, so it seems unusual.Remember, the input gain control is there to take care of this. The absolute level on the knob means nothing, and varies greatly across amps. If you set it at 9 and it sounds good, you are good to go. I don't remember if that second 'line' input/output is padded or not. That might be an option if you want more travel in the gain control. Again, not sure if that is padded or not.
However, to your point, the gain on the TF550b is set pretty hot. As an example of how much variation there is across amp designs, with my moderately hot Sadowsky bass, the optimum 'just before clip light' settings on various amps are:
Thunderfunk: Between 9 and 10 o'clock
Markbass LMII/F1/F500: 11 o'clock
TecAmp Puma: 2 o'clock
Edit: Also, remember that the limiter is controlled by the gain control. If you have that limiter engaged and push the input, it will clamp down like nobody's business.

On the other hand, the master volume control seems to be more linear than most (although not as much as an iAmp), so there is available output level up there in the noon to 1:00 range.
I know what you mean about 'hearing with your eyes'. That TF750A is a beautiful piece of work. Looks and feels very high end and solid. Cool light on the fans, high quality pots, solid case, rubber feet and handles well placed, etc., etc. And, of course, it sounds great. If it was $999, I'd probably take the plunge again, since some of the stuff that resulted in my moving on from my TF550B (a bit too much compression down low when pushed) seems to have been dealt with nicely with the 750A (and I guess now with the 800B or whatever the next generation is called). Nice stuff if you have the scratch!
I LOVED the Cabbage case I used with my 550B also. GREAT 'in-between' case. Much more protection than a bag, much lighter than a full bore road case. Pricey, but really nice. Not sure if those are still available for the newer amps.
I need something to carry my 550B in. Looked up the Cabbage cases but they are too expensive for me. Does anyone have a bag that they use? Any ideas? (I emailed Dave about it a couple of times but he did not reply).

The tone is sick and the power is impressive. I came from a Mesa M9 which I liked a lot, but my god the 750-A takes it to a whole new level. It doesn't matter if the room is small or large or if I use 2 cabs or 1, it's amazing what that amp will do...While your at it I'd like a number as well.
Here's my ThunderFunk-550 ...... I just had it updated to "B" spec's , as a side note, the switches were replaced with the little "bat handled" switches, which I happen to like better than the OEM switches, they seem much more robust ...IMHO
