Thunderfunk Amp club!

What about posting some of our favorite eq settings. As of late I have been getting pretty close to the DB750 signature sound. Not that I think it sounds better but I think its a nice variation. It was originally taken from Tommix but I did it slightly different.

40 + 2 to the right, 180 + 2 to the right, 400 + 2 to the right
and 4k all the way to the right. Bass and treble flat, tembre one click to the left (one to the left). enhance 3 or 4.

Anybody got a eq they like to mention. Beside its sounds very cool flat all the way. But again just another variation to the DB 750 type of sound.

Definitely count me in. I've got a TFB-420 at church and my personal TFB-550B at home. I've been using TFunk's for about 6 years. Started with the TFB-420, migrated to the 550-A and then to the 550B.
Here's a picture of my home rig. I've since gone back to the Berg HT-112's.
Sweetest sounding rig that I've ever owned!:)

i don't need a number, but i've got the last 550 that was built in a 420 chassis...i picked it up from squid a while back...it came with a few problems, but i sent it in to dave and he did a few repairs and all the mods that the board could accept and had it back jiffy quick and with a brand new warranty...that dave dude is pretty cool...i pair mine up with an accugroove el whappo...killer sound

Thanks Bassist30,
I adjusted my amp to these settings and gave it a try in the garage and it sounds killer.
I especially like how my on-board (Bart) pre-amp seems so sensitive and versatile. (The only drawback being an extra bit of finger noise.)

I am going to use this setting at our next gig and report back. I have a feeling it will serve me well in a live setting.
Not to exaggerate, but this felt like a completely new sound for my rig.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks,
Chad

P.S. just to clarify ( since I don't really know what a DB750 sounds like; when you say +2, you mean two dots to the right, correct?
The dots on the amp are valued at 3, 6, 9, etc. up to 15.
So I figured you meant two "clicks" to the right which would equal 6 out of 15 on the knob.
(If that's not what you meant, I've got an interesting setting for you.)

Thanks again,
Chad

Woo hoo! I'm in with a 550 w/switch and a pair of old EA 1x15s for now. I am seriously contemplating a Berg AE410 to replace the two 15" cabs though..., my back aint as good as it used to be!

TF550B through an Accugroove Tri115L and sometimes Aguilar DB112...Pure Bliss...Will get picks up: Number?

I did rehearsal at church earlier this evening with the T-Funk Aggie cab and was delighted with the sound of that combanation and my vintage P w/proprietary bridge PUP. Major growl, punch and well defined. Updated: played it for an event last night...WONDERFUL!!!

It was a Fender, Aguilar, Thunderfunk or FAT combination...LOL... :hiding:

Running Sadowsky Blue SS rounds that I am really liking the tension and feel on...as well as the tone..

Also, double black and tan as the Aggie is a tweed covered model, Tfunk is in a Gator rack bag and my P-bass is Black/black Pickguard and maple neck...
:bassist:

Peace,

Can anyone confirm that they have run the Tfunk750 under a 2.67 ohms load without any issues at all. I've seen comments about overheating so, I'm just a little cautious as I will be using it with a 2.67 ohms speaker load.

The TF website states 750 watts RMS into 4 ohms, and 900 watts RMS into 2 ohms. So, you'll be fine.

What would it be into 8 ohms? The TF site doesn't give an 8 ohm rating but most amps seem to run 60 - 65% of their 4 ohm rating at 8 ohms so this would put it in the 450 - 500 watt range. Does this sound about right?

Not sure. In comparison the Glockenklang Heart Rock is rated at 750 watts into 4 ohms, and 400 watts into 8 ohms.

Hey guys, as a former member of the club, and still a big fan of these heads, if you have a chance to try the Aguilar DB112 x 2 stack with the 550a or b, it is just killer... warm, fat, deep, a bit old school, but still punchy. That's an amazing combination to my ear.

It sounds great with that head dead flat!

Just FYI!!!!!

I'm loving my 550B even with 1 DB112 !!!:hyper:

Yes it is what I meant.

Hey guys. I just bought myself a 550B. It should be here Wednesday. I cannot wait to get it home and use it with my Sadowsky UV70 5'er and my Aggie GS410.

I have wanted one of these since the first time I tried one about 3 years ago. The thing that killed me was that I left the amp flat and only used the timbre knob to tweak the tone. That blew me away and left a lasting impression on me.

Here is a pic from the seller I got it from.

Congrats - been following your purchase over on the Sadowsky thread. I absolutely LOVE my Sadowsky - TF750A - Epi UL410 combination. Seeing as you are part of the P&W club, I'll say I played this rig for the first time at church a few weeks ago and WOW what a tone!

I hope it is everything you expect it to be!
