Tight, multi-bands distortion ?

Wanted to know "all" of them.

If anyone can put the name of differents multi bands distortion pedal, or tight distortion

For example the FabFilter Saturn is an insane plugin but I don't know if anyone have made the same thing in hardware. With 3 differents bands. I know there is some with 2 like the Darkglass X or Tech21 dUg but I don't know much more.

If you have any though on them that can be interesting as well.

As for tight distortion, the Darkglass B7k is one I think, the AlphaO too maybe but I don't really know how to make it really tight, maybe I need to change the CabSim (Ampeg810) but there is certainly other drive that are great for that that we didn't know.

The futur Bergantino Preamp will do that kind of band splitting with a distortion too.

So I am interesting in knowing more about all that.

VFE Triumvirate. 3 band. Bass , mid and Highs.
If you're handy with a soldering iron. VFE no longer sells pedals, only the plans to build the pedals. [This invalid link has been removed]

Although, it looks like he's working on getting some builders set up as licensed builders, so maybe they will make a comeback? That would be great. Many of his designs worked well on bass.

Just multiband OD, the ones I've owned:

Tech21 DP-3X (dUg Pinnick signature): clean lows, dirty or clean highs. Strongly colored (mid scoopy), but I love the colors and this one's currently my favorite. Compression on the clean lows was the brilliant innovation of this pedal. Advantage is cohesion: the clean lows don't sound too 'bouncy' compared to the distorted mids/highs

Darkglass X series (I own the X7): clean lows, dirty highs. Powerful because of the variable filters for both bands. Like the DP3X, the X7 has compression on the clean lows

Brimstone Audio Crossover Distortion 2 (XD2): the lows and highs can be dirty or clean. Big pedal, lots of knobs (including four-band EQ), but a very cool pedal with variable filter (crossover) between the bands

VFE Triumvirate (already mentioned): three bands, low/mid/hi, each can be dirty or clean. Fun pedal, but out of production unfortunately

Also, don't forget Tech 21 PSA with the buzz (boost/cuts low end overdrive), punch (boost/cuts midrange overdrive) and crunch (boost/cuts high end overdrive).

But honestly, the Source Audio Ultrawave is the ultimate tool for Multiwave OD/Distortion. If you're looking for that, don't look any further.

Another mention of the Source Audio Ultrawave:
- three band EQ
- really slick compressor (post or pre distortion)
- 10 band potential Drive splitting
- 10 band post EQ
- post distortion HPF and LPF
- input HPF
- LOADS of community/factory presets to download
- A Bunch of other stuff.
And you can cascade one drive/distortion/fuzz into another or run two in stereo.

I actually have a builders license from VFE . I have built both versions of the Triumvirate. The guitar version and there is a bass mod version. The later lives on my board. There is also a top jack version and side jack version of both. They both have the VFE relay bypass system. I have currently also built the Pinball and Woodchipper. I have some things in the works and will need to upgrade my TB membership when the time comes. This post is by no means meant to be an advertisement and if the Mods feel it is inappropriate, please delete.

FEA Labs Dual Band Distortion, if you manage to score one. I also had a DPW MÖG D1, which is a 4 band distortion. And i have a Brimstone and a Darkglass X7 but as a lot of people are saying the UltraWave is pure magic!

I have an UltraWave and a Brimstone, love both of them. I still have a long way to go with the UltraWave though and my C4 for that matter. Thankfully there is a great community of users that have mastered the art of preset building. Source Audio is well worth the investment.

DSM Noisemaker Sub Atomic was another option that's no longer around.

I have the X7 and Ultrawave, and they offer completely different sounds & user experiences. I strongly disagree that Ultrawave is a silver bullet.

> tight distortion

Sorry, no clue what this means.
I forgot that the Sub Atomic is a dual band distortion as well, I got one too.

I can get the UltraWave to get pretty close to my X7 but I think that pedal is just not for me. Out of the bunch I own I think the Ulttrawave is the easiest to get “my” sound, despite its many options. But I totally get that people find the X7 to be easier to navigate. I love the sounds on some demos but I just can’t get it right.

Currently looking for this type of pedal as well. I own a Brimstone XD1 and the thing has a huge footprint. It sounded better than the XD2 when i bought both so i kept the big guy. looking for a new sound and dug it out since i havent used it in a long time. Still love it but not the sound i'm going for. reviving this thread to see what else has hit the market as of recent. Really looking toward the new sub atomic by DSM. would love to score the little guy but they stopped production on those. I'm really picky on my clipping. I really like the Traynor TS-50b type of overdrive. I really dont want to run a clean blend with like a rusty box.
