Tiny size but BIG SOUND bass amp?

Let's do the math: If you're using a solid state head it probably doesn't weigh more than 30 or 40 pounds. If you're using a standard 2x12 bass cabinet that thing has to weigh about 90 pounds or close to it. To save weight when going up stairs, I'd be much more concerned with finding a lighter cabinet rather than a lighter amp.

Lot's of modern gear is way lighter than this. Many 800W class-D amps now weigh under 10lbs and 212 cabs are available that weigh under 50lbs.

I know. Read the post I'm replying to. He said he's currently using "old style" Marshall and Ashdown stuff. That stuff weighs a lot, but the cabs weigh a lot more than the amps. He can get a very loud, modern 2x12 that weighs only 39 lbs if he's willing to spend the money. That saves a lot more weight than buying a lighter amp.

I am conscious of rig weight as well as good tone options.
The Mesa D800+ (or a Demeter VTBP-M-800D) driving a Berg CN212 covers pretty much any volume situation I have faced in the past few years and both of these amp/cab combinations sound great together.

I compete with two 4x12 and tube head guitarists and a loud drummer. I got rid of my heavy stuff for a Quilter bb800 at 4lbs and an Audiokinesis Hathor 2x12 at 40 lbs. Sounds great and can get stupid loud. For most situations the 1x12 would cut it.

I run a DG M900 through an avatar neo 410 these days purely because I want my rig as light as possible. That setup has no problem keeping up with two cranked 5150's going into 212 cabs and a heavy handed drummer. I bought the M900 before the M500 and honestly I think the M500 would be fine as well. I also own an ampeg 410hlf as well as a Bergantino NV610 and those cabs both collect dust these days. I've actually only used the NV610 for tracking in the studio in the last 5 years, as awesome of a cab that it is I have no desire or need to lug it to a gig.

This works.

Aguilar TH500 and SL410x.

Head weighs 4lbs and the cab 49lbs.

Tec Amp Puma + Phil Jones Bass C4.

Make it a Puma900 with 2, C4s if you need more volume.
This is your best bet.

My second choice would be

Markbass Multi Amp + Barefaced

If you don't want to carry a lot of pedals Multiamp is your answer.

You have similar tastes to mine!! DG 900/fEARful 12/12/6/1! But I do plan on downsizing to the 15/6/1 as my current cab is more than I need most of the time.

I got to try out a few smaller fEARful's before building mine and I was blown away by how light, loud an amazing sounding they are
