Titan V12 owners!

i actually traded my BB750 for the titan.

I find the Titan more addressive to low end, power (of course) and sheer bass at you.

The BB750 was a GREAT head, and good keep up with the titan in many aspects. They have a little different parts and such, but all in all, they are both great. and yes, the titan is essentially two BB's.

i would go for the BB if you don't need that much power.

to be honest, i haven't been using my Titan to full potential lately and i've been thinking about getting a BB750 to use at other gigs that i can't use my titan.

See, if I get the Titan, then my guitardist will get another Marshall stack, and then I'll get a NV412, and he'll get........

While waiting for my Titan V12 I was wondering if I should have my electrician rewire a few of my electrical outlets that I will be plugging my Titan into, because of the potentail high potential current draw. My electrical outlets are 15 amps.

Doing some simple calculations... Current = square root of Power/Resistance.. 840Watts at 2 ohms is right there around 20 amps.

1200 Watts into 4 ohms calculates out to 17.
What do you all think...anyone had any problems blowing fuses or breakers?
Peace...DAcat

I have not had any problems. I have heard that was a potential issue, but i've yet to read a post involving someone having this issue.

I can't wait to here your thoughts comparing the Titan and the GB, which I have not had the pleasure of trying, but would love too. Make sure to let us know;)

I really did like my GB1200...Sweet and powerful head, but I'd just heard so many good things about the Titan and I had a chance for a good deal on one so I pulled the trigger, cause I also love that Walkabout tone(which I've heard I can also get in large sized doses with the Titan)... even though I've never tried a Titan before as we don't have a music store nearby that carries one to try out. Its something I've been thinking about and researching for a long time and I finally went with the impulse. I definately will give it a review when I get it...unfortunately it sounds like it will be at least a week before Mesa sends it to me... :hyper:...its in for an upgrade under warranty. If I don't like it I can always go back to GB. They are both great Amp Builders!! Peace...DAcat

So, what's the deal with the "upgrade" I keep hearing about?

I also acquired my Titan unheard. Traded my Mesa 400+ for it. I have no regrets whatsoever. At first it kind of shocked me how much "quicker" the Titan was than the all-tube 400+, but I adjusted to that quickly. I think it'll be around for a long time to come.

I think the seller got a notice or something from Mesa ... I think it was about something to do with his DI...I'll have to double check...I almost went for a Mesa 400 isnstead and form feedback like yours, I'm glad I went with the Titan...man I can't wait till its here...Peace...DAcat

See the current poll I started comparing the DB750 vs the Titan V12(as well as several other "Big integrated amps")...the Aggi is winning by a landslide vote . Peace...DAcat

This poll only shows that people haven't heard or tried this head.
IMHO the Titan destroys the DB750 in versatility alone not to mention the tone, the Aggie is a great head, but the titan is NOT simply a BB750 with more power as suggested

I own both and have to say if I could only have one the Titan would win. I can make the Titan sound very close to the 750by keeping the passive mids flat and boosting the mids at 400 on the para. The titan is way more versatile and can even sound "hi-fi" clean and mid scooped which the aggy cant.

Now that's the kinda response I was looking for! Keep em comin, thanks!:hyper:

Yup.

The more I play my 750, I realize it really is a whole 'nother animal. Now maybe they'll make a "mini" V12! :D Like a V6, maybe!

From the bit I've played the Aggy 750, yeah the Titan tonally is where it's at.

Hey Krügmeister...I suspect that you're right...this is a big amp(though not as big as most people would suspect, only about 28 lbs unracked:eek:), a powerful amp(more power than some feel they need?...high end and more expensive than most people can afford ...so I don't think that many have been sold or used compare to the other amps in the poll. So fewer experiences lead to fewer votes. Although I've just bought one...I bought it without ever lisening to it first, as there are none in the area to try out! I think I've only seen :ninja: about 8 people post comments about thier Titans here on TB, which is really not very many at all!! And only a couple reviews on HC....Not trying to make excuses for the poll...It appears that the questions and answers were straight and clear!

I have not had a 750. I tried a DB659 w/ a Crest CA6, and based on that I didn't bother with a 750. The Titan is way better, even just on clean tone. The 659/750 iMHO is a really foggy in the mix and has ineffective EQ. And it has no dirt, and only one channel. Easy choice, and the Titan sounds great with Aguilar cabs, which I do think are great.

I have never played through a Titan but my BB750 (Big Block) is supposed to be the same amp with less power and features. The Big Block is a funny one as it only reaches full power at 2 ohms. However, I find that at 4 ohms, its a very rich and tubey sounding amp but has a lot of torque behind the tone.

I did some comparing at higher volumes today with my Big Block750, Carbine M9 and LMIII:

The Carbine is clearly the winner for flat out volume and insane clarity. The LMIII sounds very thin and two dimensional when compared to the Carbine or the BB750. Its not all about volume! The LMIII goes loud and is rated at 500 watts at 4 ohms. The BB750 is rated at 540 watts at 4 ohms but the difference in depth and richness of tone could not be more obviously different.

The Big Block sounds so rich and deep and i found that it seems to keep up just fine to the Carbine at volume levels that were starting to really make my head hurt. The tone of these Mesa amps is just so damn glorious that its really hard to play through anything else and be satisfied!

I think that although the various Mesa heads all have a different flavor or vibe going for them, they all clearly come from the same "high end" tone family and there is a rich 3 dimensional quality to the tone they produce that I have not experienced with any other setup including the LMIII, Shuttle 6 or Eden Navigator/QSC rig that I was running last year.

I am sure the Titan will be just fantastic as well!
