Titan V12 owners!

I

On a different note, I was pleased to see my Markbass LMII could keep up volume-wise without any hassles at all. Indeed, it was actually louder

Something had to be wrong with the Titan - I dig the tone of the MB stuff, but returned my TA503 and R500 due to needing more volume. Even my GK800RB whoops em...

It is brand new (my mate borrowed it from his work at a music shop). AFAIK the only other person to play through it was the person who tested it out before leaving the place of manufacture, as indicated by the certificate attached to the head.

I ran it at around 2/3 volume (around 1-2 o'clock), compared to the LMII which was somewhere around 1/3 (around 10-11 o'clock) for the same volume. It also made realise how much growl my stingray has, after running through both heads.

We were going to use the Eden Traveller sitting in the corner but didn't have enough time, and I was exhausted. Next time...

You're only at potential output when you hear the power amp start to break up. All amps have different gain structures, so the LMII may be really loud 1/3 of the way up, but it is going to start clipping when it reaches its rated power. The Titan will keep getting louder as you turn it up until it reaches it's rated power. Its the same thing as plugging a bass with a hotter output into a head, it'll be louder at the same gain settings, but its not going to let you get more overall volume from the amp before clipping, unless the gain structures on the amp are totally wrong and the lower output bass can't drive it properly.

I've never come anywhere near the top of the output on the Titan.

I'm afraid to go ANYWHERE NEAR the top end of my Titan. I have an LMII as well, and there's absolutely no comparison. Of course, assuming you're using identical cabs, volume with the Titan is a factor of gain, channel volume and master volume, and the active/passive input rocker. So yes, you can have the master turned way up, and if the other two aren't, certainly an LMII could seemingly get louder. (Overdrive, when engaged, has it's own volume, as does the 'solo' knob, though solo will never be softer than master.)

I own a Fusion and absolutely love it. I never did a head-to-head comparison with a Titan, but I did play one in a shop. For about the same weight and the added headroom, I would swap the Fusion for a Titan any day.

But I must say this in the Fusion's defense, I really am liking the sounds I get from it. It is the tubiest sounding SS head I have played, especially after swapping out all the tubes for Old Stock Magnavoxes and Silvertones. I guess I really do like my Fusion, though I wish I could own both.

I recently sold my Power/Preamp(Crown Xti 4000/BBE BMAX T Tube Preamp) rig to try and find :ninja: an all-in-one tube head(considering Something like the Fender 300 Pro, Mesa 400, or even the rare Trace Elliot V-8 or good hybrid head such as the new Mesa Carbine M6 or M9)...but I seem to be leaning more to the Big Block 750 or Titan V12...to power my Schroeder 410R and 212L (4ohm)cabs, as well as my EarCandy BassBomb 212 (4ohm)cab...though I have'nt had a chance to try these heads out yet. I recently bought a Genz Benz GBE1200 to use while I track down the perfect tube or Hybrid head. The GBE1200 is a pretty nice head and the longer I have it the more I like it...I just plugged my Sansamp BDDI in today and was getting some pretty great tone-I would'nt say that it sounded at the "creamy, buttery, warm, rich " end of the sound spectrum...but it had a more "gritty, barky, punchy, tone" to it....but its definately a very powerful amp, and delivers a potent WHOMP!!
I was wondering if anyone has owned / compared/ AB'd the GBE1200 and the Titan V-12 and can compare an contrast the two heads. I'd really appreciated it. Peace...DAcat:cool:

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you DAcat...I have been doing lots of reading on the big tube heads but I keep hearing so many good things about the Titan. I too am interested in hearing how this compares to the GBE1200 and maybe also the B1500 if anyone has A/B'ed them.

Here's a clip of one of my all-time favorite bass players who is now using a Titan V12. Can anyone say for sure if this is what he is using in this clip?? Would this be a fairly accurate display of the V12 (minus the octave divider, or whatever effect he is using)?

Isn't there two Mesa M-Pulse 600 heads in the rack behind him to his left?
