To me Fender means the instrument guys aren't afraid to take to a bar gig. What good is a tool if you won't take it to the jobsite?
Fender is what started it all. Fender is what I love about bass. Fender is not what everyone 'should' play. Someday you'll figure it out. 
It doesn't matter a bit to me. I'm just trying to help 'em out. Why does it matter to you what I say to them?
The Standard. There are better, there are worse, but Fender is the mark that all others are compared to.
Fender is where you wind up AFTER you've matured enough to figure out that it's all about the music, not all about YOU.
i like to understand people. the actual content doesn't really matter to me as much as the understanding. your reply raises another question though: how are you helping these guys?

I play both. They both make great stuff.
...very inconsistent with all their production lines. You literally have to try out dozens to make sure you get the right one.
