Have you ever traded (or GAS-ed for) a Sad for purely cosmetic reasons?

There is a BEAUTIFUL Metro UV70-RW 5-string for sale that I would pull the trigger on (immediately!) except that it's a Burst/Tort. As classic as that is, I already have 3 basses in that color combo. :bawl:

What I WANT is a RV (or UV) 5 in Black/Maple.

Does anyone else think this way?

Am I nuts?

I feel ya, and I think I know where this bass is. I also thought I saw a black / maple UV70 5 on the Sadowsky site as available. Gas can be an evil thing.. went to see some basses today and good thing my Ken Lawrence clearly smoked everything I thought I might trade for or I might have done something stupid!
Just because I am in Jazz bass mode and the KL doesn't look like one.

HI

Yea, I hear ya. If I had 10k in my hand, I would have come home with 3 of them today. I beautiful 24/5 with Nordstrand big singles. Trans white, maple board, black hardware. A trans blue quilt top 21 fret 5. OMG!!! A UV P bass, white with white guard, braz board. What a player.

Instead, I ordered a 24/4. It will be ready in the summer. Gives me time to put some cash aside to pay for it.

Ive owned 15 all together. All were excellent. The reason I go though them is the fact that I like different colors and configurations. I wish I could have kept them all

.. out of control maniac ....

Yep!!! When this one popped up, I was contemplating selling all of my basses and then some just to figure out how to make it mine. In retrospect, i'm glad I didn't but this one still just "does it" for me.

T - AND YOUR POINT IS....LOL! Don't let a little thing like that keep you from buying a Sadowsky you like!! :D

Does anyone else think this way?

T - Unfortunately, all the time!

Am I nuts?

After 12 Sadowskys...wait, I think I am about to pull the trigger on an Ultra Vintage P Bass...so make that will make 13!!

:hyper:

Aren't we all? :D

Peace,

T

HI

Yea, A. Ordered a 24 fret 4 string today. Modern style with Nordstrand big singles. Should be a great piece

Rob

Wow! I never got a chance to play the prototype 5 with the Nordstrand pickups that was hidden behind the amps. I saw it and was curious, but was enjoying the UV jazz too much.

How did it sound? Your 24/4 is going to be killer. What finish/fretboard did you go for?

My problem is even worse, I'm waiting on my 5th Sadowsky (should be here with daddy around March) ...and all of them has been natural (vint tint) ash / maple fb!!!

I have promised to myself that my next bass (or should I say Sadowky) is going to be a different combo...but I'm not completely sure I won't break my promise.:D

One thing to remember about the Sadowsky Metro's is that you can get one from Roger's shop for the exact same price as in a retail outlet. So, there are no 'deals' and Roger always has a stream of Metro's available if you look on the site under 'in stock... then Metro'. So, IMO, there is no reason to not get the exact Metro that you want. I've posted a few times that the larger body and somewhat heavier weight and 70's pickup placement of the UV's doesnt seem to change the tone that much versus the lighter, more compact RV and MS models.... so, IMO the only reason to get the UV would be if you really liked either the full body size or the look of blocks and binding.

The other advantage of getting a Metro from Roger is that you will get one freshly set-up with nice new strings! This is a minor deal, though, since the Metro's usually sell quite quickly at retail....

I would get the exact one one want!
