Hi, i´ve a Tobias Growler, his serial number is 7312; the man who sell me the bass told me that was made in 1994. It´s an original one????... or is a Gibson version????....

All Growlers were built by the Gibson crew. if it is a 94' it would be a pretty early model. The 90's versions were built in Nashville and have two mid freq. switches. Later models built in Arkansas use the standard 3 band Tobias Bartolini preamp.

10619 is the serial # on my Growler, and its a 5 knob-no switches version. Its an ABM bridge and Grover tuner Growler, & hardware-wise, I belive it to be much better than the Growlers with switches. the ABM bridge on these Growlers cost about $130, compared to the L type low mass bridges on the Growlers with switches...but I hate the dual truss rod thing...
This is super helpful, my Killer B serial number is 00712082. I have dated this bass to be a '92 and have had it almost that long (it's been a while). So mine should be Dec 8th '92.
My (brand new in) 1995 Tobias Killer B5 is in storage, but, the Serial# is within about 30 of @mark35mi.
In 95’ my main gigging ax, a custom made Jazz type, was stolen. I needed a replacement so after checking a couple of other stores, I ended up at the San Jose, Ca., G.C. I pulled down and played every top line bass they had. A Modulus, Fenders, Music Man, Stingrays, then spent time playing an Alembic. Finally they pulled the Tobias KillerB5 down and i was in love. I loved the Asymmetrical neck. I semiretired that bass after around 15yrs and 4000 gigs!
That bass was rode hard and put away wet for far too long. I’m going to completely rehab that bass soon.

Hi Stanley, this is Jacob from the Netherlands. I purchased a growler this year on October 27th with this serialnr. 4436 and found your post when i tried to find out which date the Tobias was produced. Do you have any idea when you sold your Tobias and to whom? Kind /Regards, Jacob

Tobias Growler 5 with twin Bartolini pickups s/n 3745. It's cherry colored. I bought it new, and it remains in regular rotation. I play both active and passive based on the song, great control with the twin pickups. Very fast neck. I have had the wiring serviced by a Bartolini-certified tech. I have no clear memory when I purchased the bass, but the tech who worked on it said it looked like a Gibson era bass. The warrantee card has a Nashville address. I'd be curious what year it was made as sometimes basses that are a little expensive sit in the shop for a while before they're purchased.

I made two earlier posts and I was incorrect about my bass. Incorrect about the S/N and the model. So to set the record straight.... I have a 5 string Growler with s/n 3413. I thought mistakenly it was a Killer B (see earlier post I can't delete) but I found the original top end of the warranty card and the cardboard piece that was strung on the bass when it was for sale, and it says "Growler" on it, so I can confirm. The card has the old Nashville location address. I don't have the receipt, no idea when I bought it, but it was in the 90s. I still use it regularly, but I have had to have the electronics serviced. I put different Bartolini pickups in it to change up the sound a little, but it's a subtle difference.
