Toes hurt like crazy after gig.

Laay night, after the gig, I realized my toes REALLY hurt when I get finished playing. I think my power stance I hold most of the night had me inadvertently pressing down trough my toes rather hard. It literally feels like someone hit them with a hammer.

Anyone ever had this issue? It's in this section because it's kinda funny, I guess

Was there still a lot of Christmas decor in the venue? If so, maybe you were affected by missile toe.

(Sorry... :bag:)

Need video evidence of powerstance for further diagnosis.
Also, you may need to buy better or properly sized shoes. In basic training a whole grip of guys got boots in what they thought was the right size and got all sorts of boot related injuries. Change the boots and blam-o, no ache, no numbness, no sharp pain.

Long shot here, but worth putting out there. Do you work out? If so, do you do calf raises of any sort with weight?

I started getting crippling pain in my toes. It scared me. I quit doing calf raises, and the pain stopped. Started doing them again, and guess what? I don't do calf raises anymore.

That being the long shot that it is, I'd advise you have a look at all the tings you're doing daily. Find whatever MIGHT be causing it, and either quit doing that or learn to do it differently.

I might suggest a small, thick rug or padded rubber mat to stand on. It's much better than standing on concrete or hardwood all night.

Oh my! That was a stretch, but I like it! :D

Thank you for your indulgence,

You need to stop wearing shoes like this on stage.

I used to have the same problem with toes and the balls of my feet. I definitely can tell a difference in footwear and even with different socks. What helped me most was a fairly dense woven 4x6 rug. Helps keep everything cushiony all night :)

Could be gout, triggered by dehydration :( . First time it hit me I was wondering when I broke my toe? I don't get it often or too bad - a guitarist friend gets it real bad, been down three weeks with the latest attack :( .

Oh man, when I got my first episode of Gout it was the most intense unimaginable pain I ever felt.
It was like my big toe was being crushed in a vice and the bones were forever stuck in that moment of shattering and grinding together. A fly landed on my toe and I thought it felt like a sledgehammer.

Couldn't move, couldnt walk, couldn't sleep, couldnt put a sheet or anything on my toe, not even in the middle of winter. Just pain. And worst of all you can't get to the doctor to get medicine for the pain cause you can't be moved and not even Hydrocodone or Oxycodone will do a damn thing.

Turned me into a vegetarian overnight. I'm deathly scared of meat for fear of another attack

I guess some people don't get it that bad? I had a few other attacks that were a bit less severe, but It still sucks. And sucks is not nearly a strong enough word.

So for those of you that don't have it, be careful of your intake of meats and alcohol. You don't want to experience it.

Better shoes. Gel insoles. Stretch before the show. If you don't move around on stage much but stay locked in that stance all night, perhaps you need to move more to keep your legs and feet loosened up.

Or, just skip all that and do what one old buddy of mine once did: bring a lawn chair on the stage, sit down and prop your feet up on the monitor, say "shag y'all" and play like that for most of the night. ;)
