Is their anyone out there who actually enjoys the Tone Pump on their spectors(or other Basses). I have heard so many negative things about it but I actually like the boost only sound on my Zebop anyone else feel this way?
Me. I bought my current Spector w/ tonepump for a backup bass to my NS2A. But it sounded so different (even my tone deaf wife noticed) I sold my NS2A as I want 2 of the exact same basses (as a true backup). So yeah, I like it!
Nice exactly, what is your current Spector?(although I got to admit I like my tone pump but I wouldn't mind a HAZ lab in another Spector to have the versatillity)
Euro 4 I'm looking for another like it, but with the economy and all, I've decided to get real picky.
Rolled completely off the Tone pump sounds just like my EMG BTC set flat on my other bass. Just a touch of boost goes a long way.
Despite all of the negative press, I like the Tone Pump in my US Bolt-on NS-JH5. I usually leave both boosts on about 1/3 and go from there. I have a coil tap on the bridge pickup (EMG CTSW-40) that I use to throw it into overdrive! Randy
Does Spector sell the Tone Pump preamp separately? I have an older NS-2000/5 neck through that I've already put EMG 40DC's into, and it came stock with the EMG BTS pre, but It's just not the same as the Tone Pump in the Euro5LX I used to have.
I emailed PJ Rubal at Spector today to ask about buying a TonePump, and wound up ordering the stock 18V Spector preamp for an american NS-5XL. I managed to snag one of the few he sells separately. It's a 3 knob setup (tone controls are stacked) so I'm going to need something to cover up the 4th hole, but that shouldn't be a problem. He says he sold one of these to someone for use in a Euro5LX but I will be the first to use it in an NS2000/5.....this should be interesting
