too many strings

This beast is not to be called a bass guitar. You can't play a normal bass parts, because you can't reach the needed strings.
And after the song,Dusty proceeds to sit on a stool and do this.
And the audience goes silent..........the joke boys hang their heads in embarrassment.

It looks like the 2 bottom strings are fatter.

so is this the Elwood ZZ Top Fender Signature bass?

and that Fender nameplate on the headstock looks like it is the old style ones from the vingage amps.

Why are you codgers all clutching your pearls when there’s been Trey Gunn and Tony Levin playing the Warr and Chapman Stick for years, plus Cheap Trick’s Tom Petersson with his 12-string bass? Then there’s Animals As Leaders.
Oh, and yes, there’s been tracks at ZZ Top shows for decades. I saw them in ‘85, at the height of the sequencer years, and there was that plus ghost rhythm guitar parts.
