I'm just happy that there are still people out there who are willing to see live concerts (some with actual musicians onstage!). If the mix is good, that's a bonus.

I agree with your sentiment, but a good mix should not have to be considered a "bonus." It is what you should expect for your money.I'm just happy that there are still people out there who are willing to see live concerts (some with actual musicians onstage!). If the mix is good, that's a bonus.

And of course you caused the misery of a young, impressionable bassist by calling out our favorite song. Nice going.I'm watching a 6 piece group of high school kids right now and they have it mixed pretty well. Guitar isn't in the PA with the brass, which is an issue, but otherwise very solid. And they did a fun, if somewhat technical, rendition of "Mustang Sally" when I shouted that at them.
Better mix than many pro shows I've been to. Better chops than some too. Bassist kicks my butt.

Like most of us I've attended lots of live shows. But my god these sound engineers need to ease up on those subs. Within the last few weeks I've seen Duran Duran and Hall and Oates and the bass has no definition. Just one big low freq that rattles everything in site. Why? Why must this be. HPF's for everyone!
Back when I was younger I do not remember it being like this.

Yeah I'm this way also. The biggest venue I like to go to is the nearest house of blues. Even there the bass is mostly sub but at least I can hear some differences from band to band. For the most part yeah. This is why I like catching the smaller venues.
