Too much Maple?

Recently I received this bass and absolutely love the build qaulity, tone, and playability. I am finding myself feeling a little overwhelmed by all of the Maple and am thinking of having the bass refinished. What do you guys think?

Looks naked. In a good way. Ultimately up to you - but I'd leave it as is, if it were mine. Reason being, I don't have any basses in a complete natural finish like that, and it really jumps out. Beautiful figuring in that body.

That bass is totally not my style.
That said, I think it would benefit from a darker fingerboard, or some other element that adds more visual contrast.
That black hardware does some, but not enough, imo.

Still, not a bad looking bass.

If I were getting something like that, I'd prefer a darker fingerboard OR body, but I don't think I want to mess around with that nice quilt unless the guy really knew what he was doing.

Maple is my wood of choice. I believe you can't have too much.

Yes, too much maple. I agree with the comments about a darker fingerboard. Refinishing the body would work, too. At the very least, I might move to gold hardware - I'm not a huge fan of gold, but the black bridge on that bass is a bit of an eyesore.

It looks pretty nice, but the different maples conflict each other, especially the pups. If the fretboard was ebony, and the two 'outer' pups were ebony, and the pickups were a different wood, maybe a darker wood like wenge or bubinga, that'd look pretty nice.

Yeah, I like it as it is, but ebony or other dark wood for the pu covers and knobs would really be killer, would go well with the black hw.

That's where I'd start also--the change might add enough contrast and would be totally reversible.

Agree with Kaden....just swap the wood knobs to blk and lose the pup covers. That'll give it more contrast. having said that, if money's no object, a transparent stain over the body that allows the grain to show would be beautiful as well. I was never a fan of wood knobs or pup covers, YMMV.

I am toying with swapping to gold hardware and doing a dragon burst akin the the Modulus Q6 I used to have.

I am now compelled by forces beyond my control to show more of my collection of all maple basses.

Or in this case, mostly maple basses.

Definitely not something that I would consider buying. Too much maple. I like some contrast so you can see the details.

Middle item is a ramp, not a pickup. Those are usually made of a slightly contrasting color ime at least.
