Very cool rig! Is this the 208 cab? I've heard lots of good things about this combination--I would have loved to try this setup out if I didn't already own the GK and Eden stuff. Good luck with your gig!

I have two Eden EX110 cabs that weigh 25 pounds each that I use with the MB500 when double stacked for 500 watts of power. You can buy the MB200 with one cab and still have a powerful little mini stack. When not in use it will take up very little space at home. Eden also makes a 4 ohm version of these cabs if you only want one and run the MB200 at 4 ohms @ 200 watts.

Is there anything making you shy away from the ELF 110 to go with the head? At 16lbs it's almost half the weight of the PJB, and they run the same money. If you felt a need for more cab, you could add a second 110 and be at basically the same weight but an easier haul.
The ELF really likes a 4 ohm load. I use mine, a DNA 1350 or Walter Jones 1000 with various cabs. and have used the ELF when appropriate. My experience just
makes me believe it's a good bit better sound (and of course, power) into 4 ohms.

I played through an Elf head and two of the 2X8s in a fairly loud bar. I wanted to go home and slap my big Ampeg rig. It sounded really nice, and a lot louder than I expected. I had tried the Elf with a single 1X10 and that was impressive too. I still like the big stuff, but the pocket rigs are starting to make me wonder.
If you're up for other cabinet choices, take a look at the Barefaced Big Baby 2 1x12 + horn: 29lbs w/steel grill, 26lbs w/cloth grill. I've been using it for all indoor gigs lately and I'm really happy with its sound and portability. 97db sensitivity, 8 ohms, up to 800 watts power handling, and it maxes out at 127db which is paint-peelingly loud.

I've not used that cab, but I'm guessing that rig will work fine for the kinds of gigs you describe. I have an Elf and have carried club gigs with it, using a 4 ohm cab. If you haven't already got the Phil Jones cab, I'd echo some other posters and recommend a 4 ohm cab with high sensitivity--Euphonic Audio Wizzy-based cabs come to mind, and I have seen that TB-er Low Class has a Wizzy 12 for sale that he's actually added an extendable wheeled drawbar to, which I think is ingenious, and would take even more stress off your healing back.
That's a great cab with extremely high sensitivity, and would get the full power out of the Elf. As an owner of many EA cabs over the years, as well as GK and Genzler, I find the EA cabs to be take a backseat to none, sound-wise, and give you that great full sound with less power than most cabs.

Ifthat doesn't work for you, try looking at one of the Acoustic Image amps? They're tiny and sound awesome.Or if you already have the ELF, pair it with the AI doubleshot cab; it's 4 ohms, and weighs 15lb.
I punted all my big iron gear over the last couple of years just because I'm sick of hauling around all that stuff. The AI Coda is what usually makes it out the door, and I haven't had a gig where it wasn't suitable yet (mind you, I don't play death metal or anything, so YMMV).
We do mostly covers of blues classics. Just lots of 12 bar jams. That type stuff. My best bud uses a simple Roland cube EX 50. Once and awhile another guy sits in with a Hammond he also uses a Roland Cube. Vocals go through the cube as well. 50 - 75 people max. Room size about 3500 square feet. Service area in the back usually table seating. No risers.
I second this, and will also vouch for the RevSound cabinets. I actually bought mine USED here, and David called me to make sure I was happy with it and to offer any help he could. It's a pleasant change from the big corporate experience we're used to, and they are great cabs. Mine is the RS210T, which is 35lbs, but the single speaker units are lighter, as Stumbo pointed out.
Is that for both cab and head? Look at the Fender Rumble series. I have a Fender Rumble 100 combo that's 22 lbs and perfect for smaller rooms, and way less money than $700. There are larger units that weigh a little more, or you can get the cab/head as separate units and pair them.
Genzler. Killer gear. I have the MG350 Tall 12 combo. It keeps up with a 4 piece jazz quartet outside. I haven't tried it with a "rock" group but it is a loud little rig, sounds great and is a one hand carry.

TC Electronic or Trace Elliot elf setup with the head from the used market and cab new (avoid the possibility of abuse by a previous owner) should get you there, easily.
Like it's been said before, "it's a great time to be a bass player." So many great suggestions here. The point is there's so much out there.
Here's one more suggestion I have. I'm thinking of buying this because it is SO COOL looking and b@d@ss. And the best part of this is you can get it from most of the stores for $350! The speakers on these mini beasts weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 23-24 pounds and these little guys just POUND out the volume an attitude! I'm probably going to buy mine online for my birthday next month! Sorry the guy is speaking German but listen to the monster tone!

Just for clarification: The Revsound RS112(T) was measured at 102.2 db by Bass Gear Magazine and is coming in @ 22lbs now. Yes, 122 to would be quite a claim indeed
Trace head and 110 will run you $600 and will qualify for the usual MF discounts if you're buying it from them, getting it down to around $500.

I absolutely love Phil Jones Bass gear. Right now, my main rig is an old Suitcase combo with 4B extension cab, but I've got tons of PJB stuff all the way down to Briefcases and Bass Cubs. They put out a very well balanced, Hi-Fi sort of tone with tightly controlled bass ... but they sacrifice volume to get you there. They're also surprisingly quite heavy for their size, especially the ones with the (much richer sounding) Piranha drivers rather than the (darker and flatter) Neo drivers.
With a small, low-powered amp like the Trace-Elliot ELF you're just not going to get a huge, room-filling sound out of a single C27 cab. Realistically, you'll need to trade off some control over deep bass for more volume/projection. For a lightweight rig, I would go one of two ways (both from personal experience):
(1) Gallien-Kreuger 112MBX. They're only $325 brand new, so even a pair won't break the bank. Very, very light (only 16 pounds!) and the form factor makes them super easy to transport. They have an exaggerated mid-range honk, which makes them seem quite punchy and loud. Very nice for rock/blues with a PBass.
(2) Markbass New York 121. This is about twice the price and twice the weight of the 112MBX, but can handle a lot more power. Still pretty boxy in the mids, but it adds more deep lows. Unlike PJB, there's a loose/wooly quality to the lows ... but they're very much present. That "woofly" tone makes the cab sound almost like an Ampeg flip-top.
I actually prefer the cutting midrange bark of the 112MBX. It really cuts through the mix and sounds great to my ears. With a budget of $600 you're looking at a pair of G-K cabs vs. a single Markbass. Any modern Class D micro head sat on top of a 112MBX stack would make for an awesome gig-ready package.
