Try A/B ing both the 110 and the 2x8. They’re different from each other. You may/may not care but there’s enough of a difference that they’re worth playing through before deciding. I felt the 2x8’s were worth the extra cost. Out of four rigs, it gets the nod 75% of the time.
Either cab, I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

yes couldn't agree more. At one point I felt that speaker area was everything. For about a year I lugged a GO 700th with two Ampeg cabs (1x18 plus a 4x10) That helped lead to a dual decompressivelaminectomy!
There are just so many choices. Darn good thing that I have a budget. But still it is daunting for this old guy.

The problem is the closest place that I could go to try some of the previously mentioned it 250 miles away from me.

There's quite a bit of information on YouTube and also written reviews. Read, compare, scribble notes and use the best headphones available for as many videos as you can muster. There's so much great equipment to choose from. Like I said, I use the elf equipment but, TC Electronics and Gallien Krueger also were considered. The Faital speakers of the elf 2x8 is what sold me. They are special.
Such is reality for shopping for bass amps and cabs. I drove 50 miles each way to buy my cabs (not too bad) but 200 miles to buy my head. But it is worth it to make the trip, bring your own gear if possible, and try things for yourself. You can read a million reviews and watch a bunch of demo videos (which to me are largely a waste of time) but only you will know what gear will work for your playing style. Returning a class D head is not too bad, shipping a cab for a return gets expensive.
I don't really have a solution. The budget is tight and not going to be much of a local try it / watch CL for used gear. Used gear shipped from an individual is usually expensive to ship. I guess I'd suggest looking for a Markbass CMD121p either used or you can watch GC / MusciansFriend and get them close to your budget.
I do have some experience with Markbass. I once upon a time had a Little Mo 250. At that time I believe I pushed a couple Avatar 2x10 bottoms. That rig left no doubt that everyone in earshot heard my mistakes!
Well I pulled the trigger! But not until I actually was able to try an Ampeg Micro CL Stack. Surprisingly I met a bass player right here in my little town. Never knew he was here. I wasn't awed by it. I just couldn't get a clean sound. Maybe it was my ears since they are shot from many years of having my hair blown back by my band mates 2 double 4x10 stacks. So I ordered the ELF with the ELF110. The upside is I paid $560 including tax and a Speak on cable. The down side is they are back ordered till the end of February!!! Now it going to be a whole lot of chomping at the bit. Super advise from all you at TB. Guess I'm not to old to learn from my bass brethren.
Everyone has their own idea of what they want to hear, but I think you'll like the ELF. And adding a second cab a little ways down the road is a fairly affordable option if you ever have a need.
OK now after completely reading the manual I'm not getting exactly how let's say I would go about driving 2 ELF110's. What am I not seeing?
I received my 2 110 ELF cabs. But still waiting for the ELF amp. Looks like it will be a substantial wait. In the mean time I hooked them both to my Rootmaster c112 combo to give them a hearing. Whoa to say the least! If I ever play a stadium I'll be all set.

Cool. Glad that initial indications with the Tiny Stack of Terror are looking good. I'll be curious to hear how you like them with the Elf head, when you get to play it -- hope that it works well for you.
I use an Elf 1X10 and love it. I've also used the Elf 2X8. I prefer the 10 because of the weight difference and the tone is smoother overall. The 2x8 has a more full spectrum, modern sound, although I could easily tame that with my amp's EQ (Mesa Subway D800).
Another update....I bought a t c electronics BAM200 because I just plain couldn't wait for the ELF. It's still coming but in the mean time I'm pretty much flabbergasted by the BAM. I was thinking that I would just well the BAM when the ELF arrives but now I I'm not so sure.
