Np's...i recently started learning some of the new Tool. I should have a new vid soon.

Nice! Can't wait to see them.

In terms of Tool tone, I've actually had a lot of success recently. I bought cheap Stingray and I've been able to get a pretty good JC-esque tone running it through a GK 800RB sim in my Studio 40. I am GAS-ing for a chorus pedal if you have any recommendations.

The Boss CE-2 is what I believe Justin uses and it’s a classic great chorus pedal.
Others that I love and have had great success with is the Ibanez CS-9 (think Guns N Roses Duff McKagan Sweet Child or Rocket Queen type sound) which based on the same circuit as the CE-2 but the controls have a wider range and the sound is slightly different but overall similar.

the blue Boss Bass Chorus the CEB-3
Or the TC Electronic Corona (insert pandemic joke here ) Chorus.
The MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe is also quite good and has a good flanger setting as well.
Also worth looking at is the Boss Dimension C it’s a slightly different approach to chorus and is sounds very cool & unique.

@Toolmybass Question for you, been trying to figure out.

Since Justin is running 2 amps clean/dirty and a bunch of pedals split between those two, where does his delay pedal sit in all of it? I watched your pedal board video and the dunlop one a bunch over the years and for whatever reason im having a mental block understanding where the delay sits in his chain.

Hoping you could shed some light on it for me. It would be much appreciated!

It looks to me like his delay goes into his clean side of things. However I referenced from older sources... it’s tough to call from that pic. I’m sure @Toolmybass can help.

From this diagram it looks that way. From the way his tech explains this in the Dunlop TV video i took it to mean that all the fx hit the clean and dirty heads and the DI as well that is unclear to me, and that the Rat, EQ and Overdrive are the FX that go to the dirty head only. The rest of the FX hit everything at least that's how I understood what Justin's bass tech meant. This would make sense to me because quite a few of his delay heavy parts are fairly clean sounding...

True. To me (with my extremely limited experience) I would think that you would want the clean single chorus'd flange'd and whammied. But I've read that after distortion works just as well.

Adding distortion to a Whammy adds a bit of realism to the sound, and flanger and chorus are more dramatic with distortion. The two sounds together adds an almost 3D effect to the overall sound.

Think of some of your classic players like Geddy Lee, John Entwistle, Dug Pinnick, and Chris Squire. They did the same thing in their signal chain.

Cool! I'll have to give that a try.

There is a couple mistakes from his bass tech in that video. One being the Overdriver is in his dirt chain. Its not.
I have picture of his board proving this. The picture Greg posted (April 2) of his signal chain/ pedalboard is right, showing the overdriver is not wired with the Rat and Boss eq

The other mistake is that Tonebender. Its not a vintage one.

Nice! I got my Boss CEB-3 in the mail and the footswitch for my Rumble amp.

I feel like I've got a good grasp on Pneuma. Which songs have you learned on the new album?
