I've got Ernie Ball Power Slinky's on one of my basses and I think next time I get some strings I want something brighter, but also a set that retains a solid low end punch. If you guys could list your top three favorite "bright/deep" style strings, that would be awesome, or just some general feedback would work too. Thanks!

Many years ago I tried EB strings...and couldnt wait to get them off ...they were so bright they made me kringe!...I agree not much low-end...

DR hi beams are my favorite for being musically bright with depth.
Dunlop stainless steel are good too.

Thanks, all. I didn't really like Stainless Steels when I played them previously. I played Rotosound LD66's for a couple years and really liked them at first, but over time, started to like them less so I've been on that search again. Does anybody have an opinion on Nickel Round Wound style strings (even though I know stainless steel will be the absolute brightest I think I want to play Nickel)
D'addario Pro Steels or the new Stainless Steel Elixirs. I love bright strings and there are my top picks.
The strings that came with my new Ric 4003. They sound quite bright without being harsh with a decent low end punch. They are Rics but I've read somewhere that they are manifactured by SIT. Standard nickel round wound 45,55,75,105. Can't tell about their longevity yet.
...if you were going to play stainless steel. Didnt see your post about it. What about DR LoRiders or labella slappers?
DR neons and Dean Markley blue steel. More low end extension with articulation then any other string Ive used. Diff more then rotosound strings which are my long time fave.
I might just revert to Stainless Steel again....how were the lows on the D'addarrio Pro Steels? The Gauges I need on their heavy set is pretty perfect so now I'm looking into those

I love the Pro Steels, and bought a year supply of them. I used to love D'addario Prisms, which were discontinued before the Pro Steels came out. Very affordable, very bright! I like super bright strings, too. Way more affordable than DR, especially if you find some good deals online and make your own extended range set (buy 4 string set from somewhere like Juststrings.com and either buy low b/high c there or elsewhere, if you need them). I think a 6 string set of them ends up costing me like $23 or something that way. Very reasonable in my book.
DR Sunbeams. They are like the nickel version of Highbeams.
The DR Marcus Miller Fatbeams are even brighter, but they're stainless, and you said you don't want stainless.
But honestly, DR's ss strings are much better than Rotos.

Prosteels are pretty bright which I use exclusively. They're bright with a nice tight low end, and considerably less expensive than DR HB's or Rotos. They're easier on the fingers as well.
