Toronto GTG!

Just to sidetrack a little for all you Toronto players.

The Spirit of Woodstock concert starring Johnny Winter, Mountain, Canned Heat, and a Paul Butterfield Blues Band tribute will be at the Canadian National Exhibition on Friday, Aug. 21st and admission is only $1.75 on Aug. 21st.

The concert will be part of the CNE's Opening Weekend Classics lineup on the Toronto Star Stage Aug. 21-23. Joining Mountain on the first night's Spirit of Woodstock bill will be Johnny Winter, Canned Heat (also Woodstock survivors) and a Paul Butterfield tribute band led by veteran Toronto bassist Prakash John and harmonica virtuoso Michael Pickett.

Wish I could be there.

Ok... I have spoken to Dave at Club Bass... he would like to know if anyone is coming this Saturday ( I can't make it:scowl:) so he can be prepared for the onslaught of TB'ers. He would be happy to see you in his store... however he would also request that anyone who is planning on coming, refrain from selling or trading equipment in the store. This makes complete sense to me as Dave is running a business and like any business, selling his equipment is what he's there for. ( You will be hard pressed to find a better more open guy than Dave. He knows his stuff and will do what it takes to make his "club members" happy. I speak of this from my own personal experience.)
So again, if you are still GTG this Saturday, enjoy the shop and all of the exquisit gear Dave has to offer. If your planning on selling or trading any equipment, please do it at the local "ballet club" across the street.
Also, if possible (and I know it's like trying to herd cats) can we get a idea how many Dave can expect.

The first Toronto GTG went down, but only the two of us showed up at Club Bass. J and I tried some basses out (Dave sells the Flea Bass line as well). Afterwards we hit a local pub and got weird looks from people as I tried out J's Ric and he looked over my SX Jazz (no amp, just basses).

Great conversation about basses, music, RUSH and other great bands, learning and various other topics. Now let's get a few more dates going and have a lot more people show up...:eyebrow:

It's a great opportunity to share ideas, stories, and gear! An idea J had was to check out the Cherry Beach jam spots, so we could actually plug into amps, check out basses, maybe share some learning tips as well. This would work well for those that may want to trade/sell items, to check them out first hand, etc.
