Toronto GTG!

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the last minute post.

I was hoping to buy a USB microphone for recording our Toronto GTG but they were out of stock at Steve's Music. So, if someone happens to have a microphone for recording live music could you bring it? I can always just use the built in mic on the macbook but the sound will be pretty bad--especially for bass.

See you soon!

Hi Guys,

Had a great time yesterday as did my friends, Cary (on drums) and Mark (on guitar). I enjoyed jamming around, exchanging gear and most importantly, meeting all of you in person. I also thought the location worked out quite nicely.

It's definitely fun to get together like this from time to time. Hope we can do it again at some point in the future.

PS: John, here's the link to the Sadowsky setup info we talked about.

Just a quick note to say thanks for the fun afternoon... and a special thanks to Fajah for bringing his buddy's along!
I hadn't played a Ric in years, so I enjoyed that for sure.
With the number of SX basses there, I would have thought Kirk would have flown up from Rondo Music and video'd the event!
Thanks again guys! Lookin forward to the video and pics and doing it again soon!

It was good to meet new TBer's, and a big thanks to JPrinos for the jam room and Fajah and his bandmates for showing us how a good band sounds and performs.

We definitely have to book a few more sessions, there was just too much we didn't get to. It would be good to have another session where people can bring their rigs and basses and we can mix and match various parts to all hear how everything plays. And it would help for people that want to trade or sell as well.

It was great to see how amazing everyone plays on bass. I learned quite a bit just from watching everyone play and how different some of the various basses sounded and played.

I had a blast! It was great to meet everyone and to watch/listen to everyone's playing!! Hell, even playing with 3-4 bassists at the same time was fun. Thanks to everyone for coming, bringing/sharing your "stuff", and documenting the event with pics/video/mp3s?

Lawrie, that was a great idea to bring your "fakebook".

I'm in for the next Toronto GTG!!

I can set up a googlegroup so that people can upload their pics/videos/music/etc if that's okay with everyone. Should be easy to upload and download files from there.

Yes, great idea. PM us the link when you have it ready and any instructions we may need. Most of the pictures I took turned out well (lighting). And I can post some of the shorter videos too.

Hi Folks,

I quickly set up a google group for us. I PM'd instructions to all the bass-ites that came to the cherry beach get-together.

Please compress files as we only have a 100MB limit.

Hope that works for everyone!

Hi Folks,

Just found out that Victor Wooten is coming to Toronto. I'm going.

This Friday Oct 23rd, 7:30 PM at the Al Green Theatre.

If you'd like to go, or you know someone who would be interested,
tickets are available at Steve's Music.

This is a good thing to do here as well; any Bass related events coming to TO. I can't make this concert but may be interested in some in the future.

Some of the schools (like Cosmo) sometimes have guest appearances doing clinics. Those would be good to check out as well.

Thanks for the uploading the pics. I find the Google Group thing to be a bit of a pain. I downloaded the pics and cleaned them up a bit. You can see them here now:

We'll have to figure something out with the video. Fun afternoon for sure.
