Would love to travel to Lake Como or Portifino some day.

I feel like this picture has a lot of important information on it..... but I have no idea.![]()
Watch out for tourist traps! Go to Portofino just to take some pictures and have a walk, then run away as quickly as possible! Spend some more time in Rapallo and Camogli, enjoy some real "Focaccia di Recco": a paperthin flatbread filled with stracchino cheese....have it heated until it becomes almost liquid...as challenging to eat as wonderfully tasty ;-)
Go see Cinque Terre in Liguria (Monterosso, Manarola, Vernazza, Corniglia, Riomaggiore), and more or less the whole of Tuscany and Umbria if you love ancient towns, medieval architecture and churches (and you have a year or two to spend away home LOL)....not to mention the insanely delicious food and wine! Avoid like pest restaurans that offer "Lasagna" or "Spaghetti" (and/or have huge billboards at the entrance)...real local food is a whole another thing at a whole another level....
Lucca, Pistoia, Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Castiglione di Garfagnana, the underwater village of Vagli, Fiumalbo, Roccapelago (go see the mummies!!!!), Nozzano Castello, the "Fosso Bianco" ("the White Well") @ Bagni San Filippo, Bagno Vignoni, Radicofani, San Quirico d'Orcia, Castiglione d'Orcia, Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Monteriggioni, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Arezzo, Anghiari, Citerna, Elba Island (Capoliveri, Marciana Alta, Marina di Campo,...), Perugia, Assisi, the Marmore waterfalls, Montefalco, Vallo di Nera, the ruins of Cosa, Talamone, Porto Santo Stefano and Mount Argentario, the big Plain of Castelluccio di Norcia, Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio, Pitigliano, Sorano, Sovana, Saturnia (Casacte del Mulino: think of a free bathing Mammoth-Hot-Springs-area thing) Parco dei Mostri at Bomarzo, Viterbo, Narni ("The Dying City") (well the last ones are a bit more to the south, in Lazio), a bit further to the east there are Gradara and the Frasassi Caves (amazing!), etc. etc....
There is a gazillion, tiny, unknown towns and villages that will leave you speechless.
I take advantage of having a family house in the village of Popiglio, halfway between Lucca and Pistoia, to go visiting the area every once in a while, and I keep lookiong for new places and every time I am left amazed at how much beauty lies hidden behind every corner of every road.
Next on my list there is Sicily!
Oh and here are a few more from one of my favorite places in the south of Italy: MATERA. Gorgeous. Enjoy.
(Wife watermarked all the phone pictures, too...)

Those photos of Italy are amazing.
Not quite as exotic, from last Saturday. Father-daughter dance, tough day but good day as a dad!
