If the bridge won’t lay down flat you may have dried glue holding it up off the face of the guitar. In case that happens get a hot heat gun blow hot air while you use a very thin spatula and lift the bridge off the face of the guitar then you can sand both areas as needed and then re-glue.

Thank you there was also a screw missing from the saddle the side that had lifted

so i guess that was part of the problem as well

I have re glued the saddle back on my Bass

i had to modify this work bench as the clamp I brought was not big enough

the right screw is a little bit bigger as the hole in the body was bigger but I can live with it
