So, as you might be able to tell from my avatar, I'm a Transformers fan (and have been since what happened to be the second-ever aired episode ("More Than Meets The Eye, Part II") back in September of 1984. Naturally, being a TB member, I'm a bassist!
However, like many kids, I had an affinity for Science. While I can't really choose a favorite, I did find myself tending toward Bumblebee, Jazz and Prime. However, with the whole Science thing, I also tended toward the more Science-related characters, like, say, Wheeljack, Cosmos and notably, Perceptor.
There was a Transformers Convention that just passed trough Northern Virginia this past weekend (TFcon 2019). I got to meet the voice actors for Bumblebee (Dan Gilvezan), Cosmos, Tracks (Michael McConnohie) and Perceptor (Paul Eiding). AWESOME lineup of folks there!
Here's where it comes 'full-circle', though...
As much of a fan Perceptor (and 'science') fan as I was, I never really pursued it in my studies and kept it as more a 'like' than an educational career pursuit. In chatting with Paul (Perceptor), I'd noted that I couldn't stay long because I was on my way to a gig. He paused and asked "Oh! What do you play?"... I replied that I'm a bassist...
...he stood up, shook my hand and proudly stated that HE was a bassist as well (played upright).
So, in some way, it came full circle and I'd found some cool (albeit, minor) connection with a character favorite since my youth.
