Touch screens/callused fingers INFURIATED

I have a Zoomer employee who just recently razzed me about how I type on my phone! Apparently typing exclusively with thumbs is “in.” I’m still using swype so only index finger is needed.
For those complaining about touch screens in cold weather, they make gloves that are compatible with touch screens so you can keep your fingers toasty. Also, it's true regarding the electrical impulse so it's more about the hydration level of your skin than it is specifically about the callus (although many calluses tend to be dried out).
However, often times these gloves are useless garbage. My fingers work fine on touch screens (usually), but I've had a few pairs of gloves that are claimed to work on touch screens, but do not work, or work inconsistently. It makes me reluctant to replace my old car, since all the new cars have touchscreens.
IME, car touchscreens are worse than phone screens. (albeit my experience is limited to a 2018 Honda Pilot, and my son's older Acura). They use different tech and it is worse than the phone screens and computer screens that I've used.
Yeah, I'm not going to buy new pairs of gloves for this nonsense. I buy gloves for how well they perform the functions of - well, of gloves - things like protecting my hands from abrasion, or keeping them warm, or keeping them warm while protecting from abrasion.
The "but there are special gloves" argument is, boiled down, "we're going to saddle you with a worse user interface for your car than the one before, and if you complain about it we'll sell you some additional stuff that will make it work a bit better but still not as well as the old one". When the time comes to write "The History of American Canting in the Late Twentieth and Early Twenty-First Centuries", I'm hoping that a prominent place will be reserved for this "make it worse, tell people it's better, sell them stuff to partially counteract the fact that it's worse, and deride anyone who can't memory-hole their recollections of how the old thing was better" type of philosophy.

Never had an issue. iPhones, iPads Apple Watch have never had a complaint. If it did, I’d probably do what people with long, long nails do and use the outer knuckle of you middle digit.
use a different finger than your index. twist your finger slightly.
You are adding moisture back to the callus which helps to complete the circuit. This is why the screens get confused if they have too much moisture accumulated on them because they aren't able to figure out where exactly you pressed since the current flow is being spread out.

Interesting! In my case, no calluses but really dry skin. Ok on my iPad but so so on my Android phone, particularly in colder weather! You learn something everyday! I thought my phone didn’t liked me
