Something about Bassons gives me a bad vibe. He strikes me as a guy who can simply hold on to the lie a lot longer. I'll give ya Moncoutie and possibly Brad McGee.

Spade, I was wondering whether or not you were aware of the history of Cristophe Bassons and his long-held stance against doping? It goes way back to his time in Team Festina and the whole 'Festina' affair in 1998, when he flatly refused to dope, was widely acknowledge by other riders as a non-doper, and eventually became a veritable pariah as far as the peloton was concerned; something which ended his career soon after (by comparison, look at Virenque...feigned repentance in a snivelling, pathetic, public display when caught after the affair blew-up, did his time, but just continued to dope throughout a long career afterward) .
Bassons had real courage and integrity, both commodities which one doesn't see all that often in pro cycling (or any other sport where institutionalized cheating is de rigueur)
I've heard the same stories. I just don't believe him. Besides, everyone simply equates clean cycling with trying to destroy Armstrong. Hardly the same thing or he'd be trying to bring Team Sky down along with the likes of Jalabert and plenty of other undeserving riders.
Many riders have claimed to be clean and wrote it in novels only for the truth to be eventually revealed. Boogerd and Julich used to claim you could still win without doping. Yeah, I believed them, too.
