Tour de France 2013

Big props to Froome on Stage 9. Movistar tried to crack him with repeated attacks by their little Colombian, but were unable to make a dent in the yellow armor. Although Valverde gained a spot in the standings by the collapse of Porte, he didn't gain any time on yellow. I think Valverde missed a good opportunity by not adding to the attacking. If Valverde had counter-attacked after Quintana, it could well have been the jab that put the knife in Froome. Likewise, I think Contador also missed an opportunity to better his own chances by getting in on the hammering of Froome. Overall, I was very happy to see an animated race.

I gave up on the nbc sports feed (a waste of $30) and found a torrent of an australian live broadcast. It still has Phil and Paul and the commercials are a lot more entertaining.

I was surprised to see that Valverde and Contador didn't really get in on the attacks after the beating they got on stage 8, even with Quintana keeping Froome busy. I guess there are a lot more mountains to come, but with the rest day tomorrow I don't expect Froome will be this exposed again. Also good to see Garmin get a stage!

I quite like seeing Sagan in green. He's a spectacular rider. I hope he can pick up another win or two this year.

I like Cav, but it seems his competition have matched his level, and his sprint dominance is fading. Such is the nature of the game.

Do you think Cav will be able to transition to a non-sprinter ala Boonen and such, I don't really see it. Not that Boonen can't sprint, but he can do other things as well.
