My first post on TB. so I thought I'd show you my wonderful Havoc 5! :D Sorry for the megapic.

nice one mkandolf. i reckon my reamp is working fine, nice and responsive. had my array gigged twice now (she seems to stand out fine amongst everything, and having the preamp is an absolute godsend. actually the knobs are awesome how they catch at the halfway points, i hate gibson style knobs and prefer these metal diamond grip types.) and finally got to mess around at practice yesterday (i dont have a bass amp at home currently so im stuck with a 15 watt peavey guitar amp > < so getting my hands on a half decent 8 by 10 with it was awesome, if only for 3 hours ^ ^) might look into those headsup straps to balance it out. wouldnt have been much point with my old bass as the dive was insane and wouldnt have balanced out. the pickups are night and day in comparison as well, liking the rockfields a lot.

the attack seems ok to find over here (im in the UK, Scotland to be precise), but the obsessions seem harder to track down. with this whole BC RICH Thing perhaps now is the time to bag a good few trabens while we still can. ive only had mine a week and wouldnt mind another ^ ^ jealous of all these deals on attacks lol i owe my old man a fair sum for putting the funds up front for it.

OK, the 'new' Tribal Sun fretless 5 arrived this afternoon! Got 'er out and she is sweet! Took her and the rest of the fam out for a photo shoot since the weather was so nice too!

Hi everyone!

Ive been lurking here for a while to research what bass to buy, and decided on a Traben John Moyer Standard 5. I had a slight panic moment when I saw they'd disappeared off the Traben site, and Im still in the process of working out exactly what's going on with the whole BC Rich thing. Luckily I managed to get hold of one of these from the distributor this week, as Id rather not own something that says BC Rich on the headstock ;)

From some previous posts, do I assume that mine is supposed to have a 3-way switch as its only a 'standard' model not a Havoc? I ask because mine has a 5-way, Ive just been working out how the coil-tapping works.

Hi everyone!

Yours should have the 5 way switch. It is the same bass as a Chaos Core in a different color, minor cosmetic changes and without the Aguilar Preamp.

Ah ok, I was going on this post from Bedrockhead:

Yes, mine is the Standard - Rockfield pre-amp and 3-way switch. I'd prefer to be able to switch on the fly anyway with as-needed configurations - both single coil, one hum and one single, etc. Yes, that pre-amp is hella hot!! I had to back down the pot on the pre-amp itself all the way just so it didn't overdrive everything I plugged it into.

Looks like he added a couple of mini-switches to have coil-taps on his one (back on page 44), did they ever make a different version of this then? I saw some sites said that the standard has a 3-way switch, others said 5-way switch. Not that it matters really, Ive got the 5-way so Im happy!

Dave, this is what you have:

http://www.trabenbass.com/chaos_core.php

18V electronics, 5-way selector switch (no coil tapping needed, already there for you), hot 18V Aguilar preamp inside!

Check out the control diagram on that link above!

I think you'll like it better than the John Moyer model.

Er, nope, its definitely the John Moyer that I have! Observe:
