but i never knew that Ashdown was started by a few gents from TE. only reinforces the fact that ashdown frickin' rules, and is how a large scale bass company should be.
So, is Trace-Elliot back now? I've seen ads for some amps similar to the AH & SMX amps of the past with a slighly different look. Who owns them now?

They are now owned by Peavey yet they are to operate idependently of them. Peavey is however to handle all their distribution.Smallmouth_Bass said:

II think Trace has biten off a little more than they can chew. A frend of mine said he was visiting the factory about a month or so ago - it was filled with unloaded boxes and half empty amp-chasis.
They are back - I think it'll be a while still before they are *really* back, though

It's surprising that Trace went down in the first place. They were such a well respected company and they were the premier amps of bass.
That seems to happen often when taken over by another big company. They don't know what to do with the new acquisition and then turn them into crappy budget models.

AFAIK, Peavey is only the US distributor, but current MD Clive Roberts was involved in their European distribution before reviving Trace.
