Have fun with those!
PS: more transcriptions can be found on my blog if you look around.

saw a post on TB TAB forum, someone was looking for a TAB or a transcription to learn to play Led Zeppelin's "All My Love" synth solo on bass.
I already knew that solo, so I transcribed it & made a video tutorial for it. It is played it up to speed first. Then, a little slower and then at half speed. You will find a complete transcription for that solo, both in standard notation and TAB. plus the video here

Enjoy & have fun shedding :bassist:

A bit off topic i suppose ...
I love this Thread...finally i`m gathering some library thanks to this thread and I can finally start learning how to read music!!!!
But: Please (i know ACTA and all) link websites that have music sheets!! Although I am greatful for TBrs work! It`s just easier to find song i like on website that contains 100s of charts :)

Mod edit - please see thread title and reminder below. :eyebrow: ;)

I'ts good to see this thread is still getting a few additions from time to time and also good to see that some folks regard it as a valuable resource.

Please do bear in mind the request not to link directly to commercially available material (I haven't seen any problems with this so far, so this is just a friendly reminder for newcomers to the thread). Your own material or stuff already shared freely on the internet by the originator for educational purposes should be fine.

So, for example, any transcription you have done is okay. If you find a site where someone has personally transcribed bass charts and shared them (like, say, the Lucas Pickford site), that should be okay too (that's a very slight relaxation of what I originally said, but I can't see a problem with it). If you find a site hosting scans of stuff published in books, though, please don't link to it here.

Carry on...

Not sure if commercially available, at least I couldn't find enough accurate ones so I made some myself, but I have some full transcriptions of red barchetta and YYZ i did myself
also tom sawyer and some some other show tunes and what not but i'm sure there is plenty of tabs on those....

This is about the best thread on transcribing that I could find quickly by searching. I just finished my first transcription, Miles' solo on "So What" off Kind of Blue. It took me about a half a week of a few hours a day at work (easy job), sitting with a CD player and a virtual piano on my phone, plinking away. I know this isn't ideal and that I should be with my bass or guitar, but it's the most fun I've had in awhile passing the time away at my lame job. The last time I took lessons - at least a few years ago - my teacher was encouraging me to transcribe, and this solo was the first piece I had started on, so I have a nice sense of accomplishment.

I am very well aware that this is probably one of the most easily accessible transcribed pieces of music - I think I had found 2 or 3 versions just searching "jazz transcriptions" on Google and I have seen a video version on YouTube. But this has me thinking - if (!) I make a habit of this and get some stuff done, I know it's not bass but do you think there would be enough interest to make it worth starting a blog or page somewhere? I've never been able to commit well to practice and I don't have great chops but I love theory and I have a ball working with sheet music, it's like a puzzle to me. Just an idea, and I don't mean to steal the concept from anyone.

I hate to say that I have skipped Coltrane and Cannonball's solos on "So What" and moved on to "Freddie Freeloader," just because the timing on a lot of the sax work seemed too complicated for now. I felt like a challenge and started in on Wynton Kelly's solo, and it took a good half hour to get the first 4 measures or so. Sixteenth triplets are a little beyond me.

One question about timing - is it okay to estimate or approximate timing when it seems hard to get down exactly? I vaguely recall my teacher telling me that it's fine at least sometimes because of the nature of jazz and swing feeling. In Miles' solo, I was able to get everything down with mostly eighths and a few triplet figures.

Edit: Does anyone have advice on figuring out chords or pieces of chords on piano? The solo is mostly single-note lines for the first chorus, but now I'm hearing chords.
