You don't have to transcribe it, but check out the bass on "Only Living Boy In New York" from Simon and Garf....
Joe O. has got skills. One of my favorite bass songs ever. Sounds like transcribing it would be difficult though. Beyond me anyway.

Feeling Alright- Gladys Knights and the Pips? Great Jamerson line, but not in the Standing in the Shadows of Motown book.
Sure, I'll have a listen to the Simon and Garfunkel.
The Gladys Knight track is just superb (Jamerson as always), I'll definitely have a go at that one tomorrow or Sunday. Watch this space.

Thanks BB, I am just learning how to read, and the cover band I'm in is doing the Cocker version, but I want to learn this version and utilize some of it's groove.
The key to some of Jamerson's style in several songs is the use of chromatic approaches to the fifth of a chord from its major third and to the root from the sixth. This line exemplifies that very well so it would be useful to do. I probably won't do the whole lot, but a decent sample of it might be of interest. It's a great recording, by the way, I love the vocal performance on this.
Okay - Feelin' Alright is done, or most of it. I've done the intro, verse 1, chorus 1, verse 2, chorus 2, piano breakdown, the middle bit and back out into the 3rd verse. I've left the end choruses for you guys to figure out, I'd had enough by this point! It's reasonably accurate, I think. Have fun.
This thread is a great idea. I also transcribed Forget You a few weeks back for a gig so, here is my take on the bridge.
Nicely done - similar to what I got, but you put more detail of all the little nuances in. Neat job! 
I really liked it. I hadn't got that track in my library, so I bought the mp3 and I've been listening to it quite a bit since then. I could have a go at a transcription if you'd like one?

I'm glad you asked though, as it gives me the opportunity to once again point out that it's admin/mod policy here that thread starters don't "own" threads anyway. Anyone and everyone is welcome to post in any thread they like. I occasionally see comments like "Dude, stop posting that in my thread" and this really bugs me no end, as it's the very height of childishness, but also arrogance. There is NO SUCH THING as "your thread" or "my thread" in terms of posting rights in any thread, regardless of who started it. To put it another way, starting a thread does not give the starter any moderation rights or editorial power in the thread - none whatsoever. :scowl:

No, sorry, I've been really busy lately and haven't had time for any transcribing or much else at all either. I won't promise anything because time's kind of tricky at present. But I'll let you know if I get around to it.
not bad! my version of bar 7 in the middle 8 is a little different to yours....i wrote it out for a student a few weeks back....but it still sounds cool.
