+1. I'm hearing some incredible reviews of that movie. A throw back to the pre-"Star Wars" sci-fi when science fiction was actually about something and not just an action film. I heard there's NO CGI.
Right up there with Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon & War of the Worlds.
I mean, "Silent Running" was an ok flick, but come on.....
This movie is a good excuse to buy more Transformer toys 
And I went to watch and not to analyze and dissect every plot/details. And people expect soul searching moments in a movie about robots?

Look, you guys are latching onto a phrase I said completely tongue in cheek, in regards to what the actors in the movie were saying about the movie, not what I was expecting of the actors as they stepped into their roles. Geez, reading comprehension much? I was being glib. Do I need to explain it further?

Actually, compared to modern sci-fi, the old star wars movies have a lot of "down-time" where they're just talking and nobody's shooting anyone.

I really liked the film. There were a few bits that weren't so great, the leg humping transformer . . . :scowl:
There were also a few other bits, like the almost slap-stick comedy, but some of it worked. The bit where the guy is under Devestator and he has two big wrecking balls crashing together between it's hind legs was pretty funny, tho why he was made of 7 robots, I dont know, they decided to add another one.
The concept of humans fighting decepticons was also pretty funny, cannon fodder more than anything.
Soundwave was also in it
Few people mention soundtracks when reviewing films, especially on a bassists website I really liked the Music, Steve Jablonsky is a great composer.

I know, I was protesting Star Wars grouping with modern sci-fi that is all action all the time. In the old trilogy, there's quite a bit of time when nobody's getting shot, nothing is exploding, and there's actual dialogue.
Just got back, I rather enjoyed it.
Little too fast paced, or too much going on at times... few things too convenient... but all and all, it's better than 95% of the garbage out there.

This movie sucks. I'm a pretty optimistic open minded movie-goer but this movie just plain licked sack.
As would I, any day. I was just sarcastically pointing out the irony of your "nostalgia".
i know trey parker trashes on michael bay a lot, but i think he hit the nail on the head in whatever episode it was where he said "thats not a plot. thats just special effects."
please point me in the direction of a decent script that michael bay has been involved with. that man owes his career to cgi. i d*wnloaded the first one and did not finish it. it sucked. the only good thing shia labeouf ever did was host snl.
