Traynor Monoblock II preamp pedal

since I've built a TON of bass preamp pedals, I decided to build a Traynor Monoblock II preamp. I used the factory schematic and made an exact clone of it. the original circuit runs on a bipolar 15 volt power supply so I added an internal voltage converter to enable it to run off of a standard 9V power supply. the circuit draws 60ma. here's a pic of the completed project, mounted in an etched 1590BB with a true bypass relay:

yes. it's a completely different circuit. there are no Jfets and this one has a 5 band graphic (I used rotary pots) eq.

Super styley with the two types of knobs. It's been interesting seeing the evolution of your builds from even a few years ago, you've really developed your own polished (parden the pun) look. After all this time, I never tire of your gutshots either.

Any chance of scoring a PCB, or have you put anything up on Tagboard?

thanks Feral. since I etch PCB's for most of my pedals now, I don't do many vero's, but yeah, the PCB for diy'ers is posted on FSB.

Actually, this pedal was originally built by @Azure Skies for myself and a collection of other fellows who commissioned it - John didn't even start his until after I had already received mine. I do believe you could still get Broughton to do one for you, but best to send him a PM directly and ask that way. I love mine, it is an always on preamp for me, and it sounds amazing. You can see it along the bottom of my board here:

Looks kind of similar to mine! They do sound awesome, like I said mine has become an always on preamp. Such an incredible punchy tone. It looks like you are dumping all the low end off on yours...kind of the opposite of my settings!

Hah, i noticed that after i took the picture and was wondering when someone would notice. I was just goofing around with it with a fuzz after it, and having fun with all the sounds it can make. Best pedal build yet =)

How can I buy one of these? This is brilliant! I have four of these amps. Sometimes they go up in smoke when I am performing. I would love to get one of these preamps!

correction. i actually built one for myself about a month or two before i posted it online and had no idea that josh was going to build them.

Is the inclined pedal between the nocturne dyna brain and the fea comp is a ss/bs buzzz?

And it's an impressive build at that. It's amazing you can get all that on single sided PCBs and fit it in a 1590BB.

It's a custom pedal he had me make him. It is a germanium transistor drive feeding a univibe-like circuit. The enclosure etch was done by @JonnyAngle.
