Here's mine:
Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass Olympic White, Fender fretless Jazz neck, black bridge under black bridge cover, black tuners, black strap pins, black & pearl knobs, yin-yang sticker, yin-yang 12th fret marker. Plays great, sounds great.

Don't know what the body actually is- the wood appears to be Mahogany (I sanded away a bit once), but the Squire P-Bass 'A' neck fits pretty good. Intonates fine, plays beautifully and has a unique, woody, plunky sound I really like. Did the pickguard over the last week, drew the face on it last night...
Here's my Classic Vibe '50s Precision!
I've swapped a lot of parts and modified it to my liking. First, the tuners were replaced by Gotoh Vintage Reverse with a D-tuner and the bridge by a string through with the big 50's style bushings. I've got Shaller strap locks on all my basses, and this one os no exeption.
The chrome covers look the part, by I'll probably leave them off as they make my right hand slower than it has to be...
It's strung with GHS Precision Flats 45 - 105.
Finally, the pickup. A Seymour Duncan Antiquity gave the bass a sound that matches the looks. It sounds old in the very best way possible!
All in all, the modifications would probably have cost more than the bass itself if I bought everything new. Fortunately, everything, including the bass in a Fender tweed gig bag, was bought second hand.

I'm thinking of doing this to my Squier VM Telecaster Bass. It's a Gotoh EB-1 pickup. String spacing lines up. I'm really curious how it sounds in this position (rather than against the neck). Any do's or don'ts ?
Looks to be very close to the G&L L1000 pu position. Much more tonally balanced than the bottom-heavy against-the-neck position.

That's a good-looking Affinity, from a distance no one could tell how little it costs.
There's an awesome metallic red (and you know how much I love red) Affinity Jazz at a local store that plays and sounds like a much more expensive instrument... Squier is getting better with these things

Originally, I modded a VM fretless jazz bass that originally got me in the club. I sold the bass this year and decided to put together a SS bass. I got a Squier Bronco body really cheap and found a Squier Jaguar SS neck. Changed the pickups to a GFS Lil Killer (10K model), upgraded to CTS 250K pots and a Switchcraft input jack. Put some Chrome flats on it and this bass has some fat, deep tone now (compared to the standard Squier Bronco pickups) and is dead silent due to the GFS humbucker pickup. I was able to put together this bass for what it would cost new at GC and have a much better bass that gets gigged once a month. Only other mod may be to change the pickguard to tort or ?
"Satinized" the body using a combination of steel-wool (1-0000) and 3M (pink/lavender) sanding pads (400) patience and elbow-grease. The result was very satisfactory as you can see. I generally have nothing against glossy finishes, but in this case I dig the satiny look - especially w/black. It feels nice too. Also, the thing I like about a satin finish is that it wears in naturally when played, getting 'buffed' where touched the most. As a bonus connection, the matt/satin pu covers (not shiny black) work well visually w/the body.

From when you first posted this, I kept coming back to the thread checking new posts and revisiting your pics 'cause your Jag looks awesome, but I only realised today that you wrote "Satinized"...

The one on the left is actually almost finished, just gotta get the last of the parts.
It's a Bronco body I purchased off eBay. I'm having a pickguard made, and I have a neck with new tuners shipping now. I'm planning on making it a piccolo bass. Also planning on using a different sort of tone control, like the old varitone. I ordered Bill Lawrence's "Q-filter for Bass" which is a 3-henry inductor I plan on using. I have a stacked pot to use along with a rotary switch, so it's gonna be pretty cool when finished, or so I think.
The right used to be a complete P/J bass I got from a friend, with two bum pots and a broken truss rod (And one of the bridge saddles was missing a screw.) A neck was swapped over from a different P-bass, but I'm still not too happy. I'm parting it out, and still wondering what to do with it. I like the body and the color, just nothing else.
