Yeah, I bought the complete wiring, pups, plates, switches etc from a stripped Fender Jag on Ebay. Luckily, the guy I bought the bass from had already routered out the additional cavities in front, and the battery box cavity in the back.

My next plan is to convert it into a 5 string.

Not too tricky - Lollar pickup and some nice black abalone from WD. Comfortable weight, nice, resonant neck without noticeable dead spots... It was sold to help soothe some Dingwall Acquisition Syndrome symptoms I was experiencing at the time.

How did you like the Lollar pickup? The P bass sound clip on their site sounds really good to me...

My Squier VM Fretless. Mods are mostly cosmetic, but some have had a nice effect on the sound. They include:

- Brass String Thru Bridge with brass saddles with string spacing slots ( fixed the narrow spacing on the stock bridge and gave me perfect pickup pole alignment. Very please with that upgrade...and it looks snazzy too!)
- Rear Body Ferrulles for string thru
- Vintage Style tuners and inserts
- Fender Geddy Logo
- Tort Guard
- Neck Pickup cover
- Sadowsky Knobs ( met roger..sweetheart of a guy)
- Rosewood Nut ( Came with the replacement neck)

I got this bass for $179 bucks at GC in ALbany as a used piece. I went to town to make it a looker AND a player, and I'm pleased with the outcome. Have no desire to swap electronics as it sounds pretty damn good with what it came with. Ive heard about swapping caps & pots but am unfamiliar with what would actually create a marked improvement in the already very nice sound. The Bridge, new tuners, and new Roto's sound just great, even unplugged. I am soo lovin this bass. here's some pics:

Kept the " Crafted in Indonesia" cause Im not looking to sell as a counterfeit. Ethics and all that....( "crafted"...hey hey...yea, crafted in my basement...LOL)

Here's my Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '77. It's now got a Gotoh 201 brigde, Fender Vintage '62 pickups, Fender neckplate and decal.

Loved it. Plenty of punch with a nice balanced response from the low to high end. I think it's my favorite pickup that Leo Designed.

So this is my 27 month long project. I got sidetracked and set back a couple of times. I took an Affinity Squier P-Bass and defretted it. Then I took the body into the Florida State University art building's woodshop and cut the sides down a little to give it a more graceful and lean style. The fingerboard and chopped pickguard were painted with Higgins Black Ink that I had left over from FSU art classes. I did not epoxy the fretboard because I am using flatwounds. I might epoxy it later on down the road.

Damn, that's nice. I've been playing with the idea of using a Jazz 5 to convert my Jag to a 5 string, but then I'm wondering what to do with all the left over parts. I photoshopped a Jag front on the Jazz body. Could be do-able I think.

I had the same thought, so great minds think alike and all. The issue I see is how the PG hits the lower bout. It would need to be cut back to keep the edge of the PG on the flat part of the body. I'm not sure how this would affect the flow of the Jag's PG line. It would bring the edge of the PG very close to the Jag's lower control plate cutout. That might not be much of a problem though. What would be unfortunate is if the desired PG shape ran straight through the middle of screwhole between the lower control plate and the neck. Looking at a Jag PG on a Jazz here, it's too close to call. I would recommend you design a PG that accommodates the shape of the Jazz below the neck. Maybe move the lower switch plate a little closer to the bridge and strings. Near as I can tell, there would be one screwhole from the Jazz pickguard that would remain visible (the tip of the lower bout), with perhaps a bit of a 2nd one near the Jag's lower switch plate area. But it's certainly doable, and would look great!

I bid on a squier musicmaster on ebay and won. The reason I won was because I was trying to bid $150.00, but accidently bid $1500. Long/short the seller had to re list since I screwed up the first one. And since I didn't get it the second time either, I decided to make my own:

***Please Help Me Decide What Strings To Use***

Currently strung with the stock strings from my SS jag, but I'm looking for suggestions for something
different than I'm already using.

Here's what I'm using:
o Coronado: XL Chromes
o Precision: LaBella Flats
o Jazz: LaBella Rounds
o Axcellerator: SS lo riders
o THunderbird: Fender 7250
o SS Jaguar: GHS Pressure wound
o ThunderStick: Boomers

This was the project from hell, and everything that could have gone wrong did, so I'm on project vacation right now.

I wish it were so, but no - I laid a Jag PG over a Jazz bass here. The Jag PG definitely extends well over the Jazz bass' roundover.
