The bridge is in the same position as the stock bridge that was made of silly putty. The neck is also just as long scale wise.
It's the horizontal stripes of my wallpaper making it look longer i guess
And the saddles are missing because i ordered some brass aftermarket ones.

Cool! With soapbar style pickups and a 5 in-line headstock it kind of looks like a Squier ProTone Precision 5 (albeit a Shoreline Gold one).
This is my first attempt at modifying a bass so I wanted to keep it simple. I bought a Squier Affinity off Craig's List for $40 no strings but the guy threw in a pack of new strings. Instead of refinishing, I just touched up some spots with Testor's Gloss Black modeling paint. I had a new set of Dimarzio Model J pickups I had bought for another bass, but never put in because I liked the stock tone. So the Dimarzio's went in this "Beater Bass." It also had a funky wide nut from a p bass on it, so I replaced that with a Tusq nut for an American Jazz bass which worked nicely.
When I got it together, I found out the jack was bad, so I soldered in a new jack. This has a really nice, sweet rich tone, and sounds great. $40 for the bass, $12 for the nut and $1.50 for the jack and I have a nice $53.50 bass. Add $90 for the Model J's and it is a sweet $143.50 Jazz bass...

It should. The money I spent on my latest project could have gotten me an american Fender standard. But who cares right? Tinkering is half the fun
As long as you're happy and enjoy your instrument, you don't have to justify it to anyone. At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
It depends on whether you're interested in taking a good bass and making it better, or buying an (arguably) slightly better bass at an over-inflated price (IMO). Right now I'm trying to justify putting $150 worth of tuning heads on a $300 bass - just so I can get black ones and a matching d-tuner on the E (and you know I'm going to do it).

That's probably what kept me from putting Hip Shot Ultra lites on this Squier. I would have ended up with close to the money in it as used MIM Jazz. But now that I know it plays and sounds good, I may end up doing it so I have good tuners, and keep it. Up until that point, I could put the stock pickups back in and blow it down the road...
After a 1 year break from playing bass, I've started playing again. I had sold my old bass so I just bought this last weekend. It's the first P-bass I've owned.

It is a Squier Jaguar body, a Mighty Mite neck and Thunderbird pickups. I call it a Thunder-Jag.

+1. The color on the Jag just so happens to be pretty much my exact favorite color ever.
Not too tricky - Lollar pickup and some nice black abalone from WD. Comfortable weight, nice, resonant neck without noticeable dead spots... It was sold to help soothe some Dingwall Acquisition Syndrome symptoms I was experiencing at the time.

So that guard is from WD? any additional drilling required? My sonic blue P has been modded alot but still has the stock guard which is to white and boring for me.
IIRC the screws lined up well but I had to do some filing of the hole where the output jack mounts to move it away from the side of the body cavity.
