Ah well. Not too much of an issue. 2 of the PGs for my Jag were custom cut, so I'm sure it wont be too much of an issue to make one specifically.

Here's my Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '77. It's now got a Gotoh 201 brigde, Fender Vintage '62 pickups, Fender neckplate and decal.
Man this bass is stunning, as for me I'd go with an American Standard Hi-Mass Bridge (making the hole in the back) and I'd change the machine head with vintage-style ones!
Here are my tricked-out Squiers, the Twins.
Left: Affinity P body, SPB-3, Squier Standard neck.
Right: 80's or early 90s J body, stock PUPs (for now), early 2000's MIM J neck, upgraded control plate/pots*
Both bodies were stripped and sanded. The P was midnight blue, and the J was black. I did a light stain on the J, and both were finished with bamboo oil.
The P has become my main bass, given its weight and the tone from the QP. I'll eventually upgrade the pots and jack, and maybe change the 'guard to a tort, which will match what's on the J now (not pictured).
My limited stripping ability has yielded bodies that look a little battle-scarred ... I like it--take that, Roadworn series!
*well, "upgraded" might be a stretch--it was a $10 buy on Amazon. The pots are small--though I don't know what that means--and I can't seem to get the wires soldered to the neck PUP pot. It's my practice-at-home-bass anyway, so it's low on the priority list of projects to fix as long as the bridge PUP works.

I went with it for a while, but it just looks naked to me. The 'guard I got doesn't entirely fit, though. It might go on my '75RI, and I'll put its black one on the Squier--then they'll really be twinsies ...
I had that issue before with a Fender 'guard, where it fits on my Fender, doesn't fit on the Squier, yet my stock Fender 'guard fits the Squier just fine. Weird.

I had that same issue. I bought a fender pg and it didn't quite fit my squier. I just made it fit haha.
Most of the replacement guards on my basses have required a little finagling. The only exception being the fender one I put on my MIA jazz. That one dropped right in place.
Yeah, that'll be step 2 if necessary. However, if I switch guards with my '75RI, then my arsenal would be:
Sunburst J w/ tort
Sunburst VI w/ tort
Natural P w/ black
Natural J w/ black

If and or when I strip my squier P, do you guys think a red pg would look good on it or should I put the original black one on? I'd have to strip the original one too though cause I painted a gnarly design on it.

One tip: make sure you use a plastic scraper to get the stripper off unless you want to risk gouges. Then again, you want it battle-scarred, too ... gouge away!
I like battle gouges. It already has more than a few on it. Which I totally dig. But I'll still grab a plastic scraper. It'll be easier to get off.
Would a fretless Squier Jazz VM neck fit a VM P without mods to the body?
I just picked up the Amber VM P and love it, but I want to put a fretless neck on it if possible. I tried it with earlier versions of both basses and never worked, but I know the VM Jazz has changed a little in the last couple of years, so wondering if anyone has tried.

Here's my squier P I just got done stripping and finishing. I'm happy
Is the grain going side to side? I don't recall ever seeing a body cut like that - is it a thin top laminate?
