Yes for the HB, but as I'm keen on replica , maybe not too late with routing size, I would have chosen a DeLuxe flavour with double Jazz and balanced pots layout. But yours looks nastier for surei like what you did with that squier cvp. now that i have added a humbucker to my vmp5, i would really like to do it to the cvp i have.

There are some really tasty bass out there. BTW, few days ago I found a MIM P with really nasty cracks on the body, so I embarked in a relic journey by myself, I'll eventualy put its neck to a Squier Body (maybe PJ, after some advices from you guys) and vice versa and make it string tru (by rouitng the body) + SD Pickups (Quarter Pound PJ Set). I'll post pictures, promise.
Besides, are the pickguards from an Affinity PJ & American Standard the same? I mean, same spacing in between all of the holes (even the ones for the pots). Thank you again.

Nope. FWIW, MIA Standard P pickguards aren't all the same either... They seem to very from bass to bass!

My vote goes with keeping the black pickup covers and knobs. All that white and chrome on silver screams "Wedding Band" to me. But, if that's what you're going for, then by all means…frost that cake!
I finally got around to "fixing" one of the great flaws of the Squier Standard Jazz. Thanks to the incredibly competent tech at my local Guitar Center, I can now fit a properly-sized pickup into the bridge route. No more "tracking down two neck-sized pickups while hoping the covers fit" rigamarole for me, dammit!
I asked him if he could use a single-coil routing template to open up some space. When I went to collect and inspect his work, he told me he had to use one template for the width and another for screw-hole divots. Here are the results…
…and I am quite pleased with them!
(As it turns out, one doesn't have to remove too much wood. Just a little "haircut" is all that's needed.)I'm also pleased with the Fender Super 55's I had installed. This marks the first time I've had a pair of them working in tandem. My only experience with them is using one in the bridge of a P/J project o' mine, so this is cool, new territory for me. It still needs a proper set-up, but at first glance they are quite "beefy"…way more so than my MIJ Jazz, which is no slouch in that department. I'm hoping I can get a little more "growl" out of them once the string and pickup heights are set right.
I also had a set of Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats installed. They've proved to be quite cool on my P/J project, so we'll see how they work out here. If I still don't get all the growl I want, I'll switch to Cobalt Rounds to see how they sound combined with the Super 55's.
Who knows? I might even install a Santellan Sounds series/parallel wiring harness someday. As always, it's a Voyage of Discovery!

Please tell me where you got the pickguard and was it a "drop in"?Here's mine....my very FIRST "P-Bass"...a 2013 Squier VM Precision (amber). Until Squier builds one with a "natural" ash body, it's the only way I get a "natural" finish body. I wanted a maple neck and board to go with that. I've fixed it up with a few minor cosmetic changes, but some important functional upgrades as well....
First of all, I read the thread in the "Strings" forum about the Bill Lawrence P46 "being the best Precision pickup...EVER", and 900 pages later I was convinced! Ironically, I got word it was being shipped to me on a Friday, and on that Sunday Bill Lawrence passed away. Anyway... that was the starting point.
I upgraded the volume pot to a CTS 250K, added a Switchcraft jack, and a CertainBass Variometer in place of the Tone Control. I topped them off with new, larger "Telecaster"-style chrome knobs. I installed all that onto an "Aged White Pearl" pickguard, and after copper shielding the cavity, I popped it all back together. The final piece of the puzzle was flatwound strings. I chose Fender 9050CL SS flats. I've had great results with these on other single pickup basses I own, and this "P" is no exception!
I REALLY have a thing about most "bent steel" bridges. I think they're ugly and take away from the flowing "look" of a classic Fender-design bass. So, coupled with the old-style pearloid pickguard, I thought a bridge cover would look better. All in all, not very impressive LOOKING, but it's got the look and sound I wanted at a Squier VM price. Why on earth would I ever need to spend the money on a MIM or an MIA?
This is MY P-Bass. It's what I desired, it has all the upgrades I wanted, it looks the way I planned it, it sounds the way I "heard it in my head". I shall not covet other P-basses......
....yeah, RIGHT. I hope it will hold off GAS for at least a few months, at least!
I found that pickguard on eBay from a China seller. It was SO cheap that I took a chance it would fit. It fit like a glove! That was 3 years ago, tho, and I cannot remember the seller's name. They're probably still selling on the 'bay.

All the parts (hardware, neck details, finish on the neck, etc.) are the same as in my MIM Fender deluxe Jazz. The body was very well refinished in what believe to be Daphne Blue. Hope you like it.

Wasn't aware of the zero fret insert. So it fits into the nut slot? And the strings rest on the fret which is attached to the white plastic 'guide'? And by 'makes the open strings sound fretted' - I'm not certain I understand… so it makes the note ring in a more metallic way? (like having a brass nut?)
Nice bass - good colour, Geezers are good, pg looks appropriately 'aged' (minty).

I just LOVE those 70s-style Fender Logo Tuners! They came stock on an AVRI Jazz I had, so I used them on a Jazz project I've just completed. Call me peculiar, but there's just something that feels so RIGHT looking at the back of a headstock and seeing "FENDER" on the tuners!
