Here's my Squier. A Silver Series precision. Too bad the sticker that says "Silver Series" on the headstock wore off some years ago.
Well, what can I say about this lovely bass? I tried it in a store in 1993 or 1994 and got GAS straight away. A bit heavy, the neck has great finish and fret work with a shape that is one of my favourites, it simply felt right playing it. Maybe I was very lucky with this one, but this is an excellent bass.
Mods:
Changed pickguard soon after I bought it to a mirror crome to get the Phil Lynott look.
Seymour Duncan SPB-1
CTS pots
Orange drop cap .1
Switchcraft jack
Badass bridge II
The original sound was pretty good, but I wanted to find out how it responded to top class pickups, electronics and bridge. Now it plays to its potential! Big, deep sound. I've also put thick flats on it and couldn't be happier.
If I had realised it's true quality for money back when I bought it, I would have purchased a few more. Honestly. I'll never sell this bass and I think it's an equal to my MIA '10. Believe me or not.
Would I bring this to a gig without a backup and not worry? Yes!
Would I buy another Silver Series if I found one? Yes, without a doubt!
If anyone has a Squier Silver Series p bass for sale - let me know!
