Tronographic Rusty Box Soundclips

yay! i'm a confused bunny. what were they suggesting you adjust on the insides in that email?

= me being too lazy to go back a couple pages.

They mentioned a capacitor and 2 resistors and suggested that messing with the value of one of the resistors and possibly removing the capacitor could adjust the amount of gain from the boost function. This is what makes me believe that the Boost is just another amplification stage before the clipping circuit, and what we would want to adjust is not the gain addition of the boost but the volume addition that occurs as a result of the added gain.

yerpah. build cables? sure, i can handle that. anything else, i talk to a professional.

hurm. FX Doctor's going to look at rehousing an Aggy Octo for me, i might ask them about doing this when i get a second RB. good IDEA fiveStringedTreeBeast!

are you saying, it has BALLS suh? you almost made my monocle slip RIGHT off my face. uncouth HOOLIGAN. harumph. HARUMPH i say.

also, yesh. i think you could actually swap an RB for a testicle and be, if anything, MORE effective in the sack.

"Cold Metal LOVAHHHhhhhhhh!!"

hurm INDEED good suh!

y'know, i can't speak to it's OD capabilities. Erukus is the champion of that facet of Ole Rusty. but the ANGRIEST yet fullest preamp i've ever used. so much WIN in thar.

we did a gig the other day where the other two bands borrowed my rig and i got to hear cats actually playing bass with guitarists and drummers and whatnot on the Rusty coming out 4 Aggie 12's. ****ing made my socks wet. just BADASS.

is badass a good word? 'cause if using it is wrong, i don't wanna be right. hey now.

I've spent the past few hours fiddling with my new bass / eq / rusty box settings..
I'm really beginning to favor the Box more as an effect pedal than a preamp.
Maybe it's because I'm playing at less than rock show volumes..
Still can't seem to use it as a preamp at a low volume setting.

Momentary derail: I've been curious about building a fEarful cab for a while now, which one are you running? They seem to get lots of positive vibes over in the fEarful threads. Don't hear much about them otherwise though.

The ACTUAL thought I've had the last couple days... Do I really NEED a Rusty? *gasp! I generally don't run much for effects/preamps. I've downsized my board to a Pedaltrain Mini, and besides the tuner I really only have a changing variety of envelopes and overdrives on there. I already have a couple DI's if I need it too.

To you guys that have them (and since others may be curious as well), what makes the Rusty something I should try? How does it compare to something like a BDDI? I have the Sansamp so I do know it colors your sound quite a bit, but what are the major differences besides the controls?

Thanks in advance for the infos! I'm not taking my name off the RB list just yet, just weighing the Rusty against other gear I want at the moment. ;)
