true giant monster rigs

Let's get back to the giant rigs. Anyone else? So far I've only seen 3 rigs actually owned/used by the posters. Surely there are more out there.
I dunno... Does jmjbassplayer have anything that qualifies? He's the only other TBer I know of who'd play a venue that would require a giant rig like that.
Then again... He's got that whole high tech in ear system for NIN, so maybe not...

EDIT Okay, I'm about to reopen this. I've just had to delete about 40 posts and then send and respond to several PMs. Some of the deleted posts were totally out of line, others were quite reasonable but no longer made sense once I'd cleaned up the mess. That sort of clearing up after a train wreck should NOT be necessary. I would have liked to think that the fact that we all play the SAME instrument but in such widely varying contexts (genres, ages, levels of professionalism etc etc etc) would be something to celebrate rather than fall out over. Come on, play nice, fellas, puh-leez.
When I was a teacher (yep, that's right), one of the important rules for me was that the older, bigger kids, as senior members of the school, had a right to some respect from the young 'uns. But the young kids also had the right to respect from the older ones, as these seniors should understand that they were young once and also that nobody has the right to look down on, belittle or bully someone else. See how that works? Rule #1 here at TB is pretty similar. Regardless of what sort of music you play, how much gear you own or can/cannot afford, how old you are, how many gigs you have or haven't done or what standard you've reached or have yet to reach - if you play bass, you're welcome here and your opinion is valued. But please remember that this applies to everyone else as well, and stay out of ****ing contests. If you see something you think transgresses Rule #1, just report it, please.

I'm a bit sad this got so out of context and i get the feeling the OP got scared away, and we missed the chance to learn a bit more from him.
It's funny how often around here we see the question, "Do any big name pros hang out here?" and when one finally shows up, he gets flack.
He's a touring pro. Bite your tongues, suck it up, deal with the fact that he's playing stages larger than your house. Everything in the big leagues is expensive (if you think that rig cost some bank, the next time you are at an arena show you should ask what the typical touring audio console costs...nothing like a $120k+ desk to wake up your bank account). Oh wait, that's ok, since folks don't get jealous about that.

I have to agree COMPLETELY with Mark on this one. I was reading through this posting, LOVING the rig and thinking to myself... why the hatred towards Johnny's rig? I don't understand this forum at all.
It seems like everyone here thinks that what every bass player needs is an 800W rig w/ 2 moderately sized efficient cabs. When someone says they need a coffee house rig to use w/ a guitar player, people chime in and say that their 100W combo won't cut it if you're guitar player is using anything but an unplugged acoustic. (I'm being sarcastic for a point folks.) There's no pleasing the folks here. So Johnny says he's competing with 4-6 double stacks, and has to stand 35' feet away from his rig, and I personally am thinking WOW, you'd have to have that serious power, but then all the haters come on and say that he should be using the same "coffee house" rig they're recommending to the new player... sheesh guys come on.
Johnny... keep up the great playing, you've paid your dues (and then some) and deserve to be where you are! You're an awesome player and this is a killer rig, that we'd all LOVE to play through. I AM going to stop bitching about hauling my rig around after seeing that
what I'd REALLY love from your rig are the roadies that go w/ it, plus then I'd be able to drive a smaller car!(Why do I feel like an old man spouting off here?)
I recently got to play through what amounts to half of your rig, and was STUNNED by the power from that setup. That's got the makings for some REAL face-melting sounds! Good on-ya!
I guess I missed the part where this thread got so far off track. Good. I read a good bit, and noticed a few jealous types, but nothing so bad as to cause a major derailment. In any case, nice job by the Mods to fix, and keep it going. Johnny's rig, (which is what it's about), is a massive stack of power, and quite impressive. My 5 bass amps put together can't touch it, for size or power. It is a monster in every respect. All I can say is, way to rock 'em hard, Johnny A. You've definately got my attention enough to look for the new album. I love it.

How are you distributing your amps (I see two in the picture). Larger for the 15s / smaller for 410s, or are you running in stereo?

Actually nothing that elaborate. The 2001 is the only head I use. I sold the 1001 to a fellow TBer and bought a GBE 750 for back up. The pic was from the first day that I had the 2001.
Nice! I'm pleased with my current 212 cabs, but there's that little twinge in the gut and voice in the back of my head going, "Yeah, but what if..."

im looking to get a rack mount distortion unit. the agro was my first thought. i want to be able to get all out distortion with it. like almost to fuzz. will the agro do it? i was also thinking of the rpm or the psa.

the rigs of doom are great, and the mini doom rigs too. this is the thread to post only the true giants rarely seen. this is my frankenstein creation, the faces on other pro bassists when they check out my rig is worth the 16,000$ price tag.,lol. you might have sold more records than my band, but u dont have a badder bass rig, havent seen it yet. im sure there is one somewhere... and i have two complete rigs, one for the usa, and one for overseas. steve d, bigwig at ampeg, always comes out to see it when we play st louis. and i ask if he has seen a badder rig. the answer is still no. there are for 18 inch evx subs, run full range. they are suprisingly clear up to about 900 hz. the jbl horns are crossed 6db slope at 1000hz with mundorf capacitors from germany. the 8x10 are the older svt pro cabs, they dont make em anymore. the handle 1500w rms, and the cabinet is the same svt size, only about 6 inches deeper. it adds a few cubic feet to the cab. honestly the older svt cabs have better tone, the cones are lighter, and they are clearer. fortunatly the horns make up for that. the 18" cabs were custom made for me by ampeg. check out all the pimpy chrome logos. i requested those. i can hear the people getting ready to post 'overkill',lol. unless somtimes you sing at the mic up to 35 feet from your amp on a headlining gig, (yeah, i have to feel the bass to sing the right note) and you are battling four double stacks , and a double stack from two guitarpayers with thier chainsaw rigs, you kinda respectfully are not in the league to comment,lmao. i refuse to put my instrument thru a sidefill that does not sound as good as my rig, period. heres a few pics and maybe a little more description. i hesitated to post this rig. i looked at all your rigs of doom and they are wonderful, and hard earned. i would have killed to have one of those 15 years ago. i never even thought id even be able to afford an svt, i just got lucky. check it out.johnny a. staind.
