true giant monster rigs

Yeah it was.
I'd love to hear Jonny's rig without a band or PA support. I'm sure it would kill most everything else! Hell, an Avalon in a live rig alone is cool as hell!

So why do you need to be rich before you do anything to help? If you are so socially-conscious, when did you go buy something for a school or whatever? An Acoustic B20 is only about $149 and some inner city NOLA kid(s) would love that. Before you ask, yes, I have donated equipment to my local high school consistent with my means. I would bet anything Mr. April has participated in charity events as well. Like most of us with some extra dough, he worked his ass off to get it and owes no apologies. Now get down to Louie's Juke Joint and buy somebody something! Iko! Iko!
Any clown can rent dozens of Ampeg 8x10's for show or throw empty ones on an arena stage.

unfortunatly lots are dummy cabs. i played with a band called" autograph" back in the 80's. dude had 15 svt cabs, only 3 had speakers in them. the less weight, the lower travel costs are. your be suprised how quiet it is on my side of the stage, its alot louder in the audience. johnny a.

well gee, i have. i gave away a free 18 inch exv on this site the other day. some other dude posted on wether he should buy a bass effect pedal or a metronome, (i was disgusted, the metronme is 10x as important) i told him if he would promise not to buy a pedal, i would send him a free new drum machine. he never replied... awhile back i was in my local music store. this 17 year old kid was playing a guitar like a pro ! he did not know who i was, i asked him how long he played, complimented him. he told me he is working a job and paying it monthly, he goes in every saturday morning to visit andplay his layaway guitar. what did i do ? i went to the register and paid for the rest of the guitar, told him who i was, and handed him his fully paid receit. i thought he was going to cry,lol. and i have a new staind fan. some street musicians are excellent. you shoud see thier face when i drop a $100 bill in thier guitar case . i can tell who practices and who dont, i have given away basses, amps, strings, bags of picks,.. i used to be a poor dishwasher, 16-17 grand a year. i enjoyplaying santa clause sometimes, but please dont try to guilt me into it. i have shared. johnny a

before the 737sp, it was a set of the ampeg pro amps that i use for backup now. im not sure of the di brand , its the green thing you see in between the rack space.(its not mine) johnny a

Don't listen to some of the detractors here. I'm admittedly not a huge Staind fan. I dig what I've heard, just never got into it. An old, old band of mine did Mudshovel. I love that song! Regardless, I think it's great that cats that have made a name for themselves post here. Many others have in the past, but some people here like to rag on them till they disappear. I'm not sure why.. To stroke their net ego, maybe? Anyway, it's best not to even engage them and just do your thing dude!

Great Rig! I love big rigs! Personally I would not get the same charge of standing in front of 1 cab as I do standing in front of my 4.

the adjusting the timing/phasing is a great idea. they do that at the soundboard with the p.a. so all the speakers sounds arrive at the same time. thats all fine and good, but no one seems to realise thats only where the soundman stands, move 3 feet, your back to the same problem,lol. so now you have yet anther piece of gear in line adding its own sound. yes, im using 12's and horns on the wedges. i have a secret to my wedge sound. put my mic flat. turn off the horn amplifier. now turn up the fader till the woofer starts to feedback. back it off a pinch. now add the horn till it feeds back, and back it off. now please put gaff tape on my fader because if its 1 db quieter during the show, i will notice, and get upset easy, cuz i cannot talk and make hand signals and play at the same time. my tech reads my lips, UP & DOWN. if i point at my mouth while saying up or down he knows its the monitor. johnny a

i bet you a new spector if rex tried my rig, he would be buying some new stuff. i remember our first show with korn. while we were soundchecking, fieldy walked onstage. he ignored me, and stood in front of my amp for a minute, and walked off. the next day, 4 brand new svt pro cabs showed up for him. (the ones i was using). i had 2 cabs. he wanted to destroy me. i destroyed him again, hahahahahaaaa. if he heard the rig now, he would be whipping out his wallet again. when you have good reproduction of low frequencies, your vision vibrates to the note you play and it changes with each note when you stand in front of the cabs. svt by themselves wont do it. they are tuned to 80 hz.(this is where they have the most output the second harmonic, like most rigs.). johnny a

Did you buy/recieve all of those at once or did you build it all up over time?
Do you ever really use your 4-pro for anything anymore?
I thought I had a fairly big rig, just running an Ampeg 4PRO into the svt-610hlf plus the ampeg b1-re running into a custom 1x15 cab.
Which I guess in comparison, they would just about equal the same if you include rig to fan number ratio. ha ha.
What kind of rig were you playing when you were loading your own stuff on tour every night?

His rig has nothing to do with being American or showy... it's having to compete with ABSOLUTELY huge guitar rigs in stadium environments were the sound just gets eaten up by all that empty space.
