true giant monster rigs

No hating here, I admire.

It's great to see a professional bass player using 18's on the road, with full confidence and pride. I love using mine, and not many individuals are seen on stage with one.
In the case that my band is one day plays shows like johnny and his band are, I'll have a few of them there on stage with me as well.

props for doing your thing man.

Holy cow, Johnny! Did you bring that into the Stern show when you guys did the karaoke shows? ;)

Speaking of which, I thought those karaoke shows were great. It really showed how talented you were to take songs from so many different genres and adapt them to a 2 guitar-bass-drums band, and to do it as quickly as you guys said. Could have done without Robin singing, though ;)

Anyway, great rig. My days of needing or wanting a rig like that are long behind me, but that's what you call a man's bass amp!

I can only think of one person who may beat that, and that is Lemmy of Motorhead. I know he doesn't use much PA support, those Marshall stacks are real. Its close that for sure.

But seriously beutiful rig, reminds me why I like the heavy stuff more. Also nice to see a Pro who tours all around the world with an international act post here. That rush playing in front of a big sea of people must be exhilarating. I'll be just happy when the band I'm in gets ready to gig and we can play a few club shows.

Bragging rights are cool i guess, it just reminds me of some Spinal Tap **** .....sure I'm nobody and not endorsed by Ampeg or Crown or Dunlop picks(eww...picks) but this thread isn't really getting me all tingly in the right places. Show me some '70s Jazz basses!:eyebrow:

It's just that stuff like this reminds me of this ever-present American cultural trend...bigger and more of it. It's just excessive. It's like cars....well i drive a Hummer, well i drive a Ford giganto blah blah blah. Break down your rig and give it to some inner city high school kids that are learning electric bass or something. Or auction it and give the proceeds to something you dig....I'm sure as hell not Mother Theresa but if i had reached this level of stardom and fame i would simplify things and give back. Maybe he has. He probably has. More power to him.

Well I wasn't there to see what he had to go through to make his money, nor do I feel it's my business what he does with it now. I'm not sure why you think it's your business. When you make your millions, I hope you don't mind people on the internet telling you what you should do with it.

Right, those 70's jazz basses people didn't care about 10 years ago. The same ones that in 10 years people will be going "What were we thinking?" much like they do now looking back on 80s fashion. But if you really want to see some 70s Jazz Basses, head on over to the Basses forum, this is the Amp forum. Staind's last album was 3 years ago. That's not exactly the largest gap in between albums ever. 2-3 years seems to be the norm nowadays. Oh and by the way, you should head over to YouTube, I'm sure you'll find plenty of "real bassists use fingers" people, maybe you can form a club.

I probably shouldn't have posted this reply, I even let it sit for about 15 minutes before I decided to actually post it just to see if I changed my mind.Then again, you probably could have gone without posting as well. So I'll call it even.

Huge, but I'm 100% there are bassists somewhere that have (or had) even madder rigs. John Entwsitle used to have as much as 4 4x12 + bass bins + subwoofers. He powered that with a couple of slaved Coliseum heads.

It might not have been louder, but my guess is that it sure was heavier with all the horn loaded cabs ;)

PS: Bootsy is a given.
