trying to get a rick and 14 years old

Yep, same as any non-rich kid, you just have to get a paper route and mow lawns and make deals with your parents like "If I get at least a 3.5 grade point average each year will you give me X amount of money?" 
Get a part time job, mow loans, baby sit or something. Get good grades and make deals with your parents. Its not that hard really, its what i did and probably what most teenagers did. Oh, and you could sell your old bass and add it to your rick savings. Oh, try to find a used one too, itll be cheaper.
Cut grass, rake leaves, shovel snow off driveways and any other part time work that you can find. Forgot, paper route. Usually checking into this at the beginning of summer is best, because summer jobs are the best way for someone your age to earn money for a bass (Ric). That's what I did when I was 14 to earn money for my first bass (Gibson Grabber). Good Luck!

ok i play bass guitar im very good and i want a rickenbacker. how in the world do i afford it

Out of curiosity, how'd you settle on a Rick?
you know, a few of my friends who are 15 got nearly 2000 dollars with consistent summer jobs that you work several hours a day on. although the job is only like 6.50 an hour, imagine several hours every day for three months!!!
my calculation is this if your work spans 93 days and you work saturdays, you are actually working around 80 days, so you need to make 25 dollars a day. If you get paid 7 dollars an hour and work four hours a day, you are already ahead of the game! then you should end up with $2240 at the end of the 80 days.

jinithith2, you have some weird math there. That would be working tax-free for 4 hours/day, 7 days/week for 80 days straight. Presuming a multiplier of .856 for income taxes, it would take a lot longer than 80 days at $7/hour working 4 hours/day to net $2240, especially if he doesn't work 7 days/week.
lol forgot about taxes XD I work for my dad so I havent had to worry about that yet. and I noted that you would be working over a period of 93 days, but only working for 80 days which is 6 days a week in my original post

its just do an errand and get 20 bucks type of thing... work is an overstatement really

Put off the dream for aonother 10 years until you've learned to appreciate the value of a dollar.
If you don't already have one (which IMO all kids should have one) you should get a savings account and put all the money you make or recieve in it, that way it's not sitting in a shoe box or a hidden somewhere in your room for you to spend.
Everyone has given good advice thus far, get a paper route, cut grass, rake, shovel snow, and all that good stuff. Incentive for getting good grades is also good, talk to your parents and grand parents about some sort of grade = cash (quarterly or semesterly).
Here are some other ideas.
See if your parents (if you don't or haven't already) will give you a weekly allowence for doing certain chores around the house. Keeps your house clean and looking nice and you'll get paid.
Talk to some people in your neighborhood, see if you can make some money by walking peoples dogs. Seems like a lot of people love having dogs, but don't walk them and people will pay for this.
On top of walking their dogs, it's still warm out, how about washing peoples dogs?
In the vein of washing things, how about washing cars? You could arrange this with your nighbors or get together with a bunch of buddies, pick a spot and make some signs... split the cash.
I know this may seem very like the dark side, but if you also play guitar sit out and pan handle. I've done this in Madison before, I was broke for the weekend until Monday, so I sat out for a couple of hours just playing my acoustic and made some money. I've friends who will ride on the train with their guitar and pan handle and make better then min wage.
Collect all of your aluminum cans or scrap and take it in. Possibly ask the people in your neighborhood if you could have their waste cans as well. People are paying high dollar for aluminum right now, so it's actually a very good idea. My band has actually recently started doing this (we practice at my guitrists house and they drink a lot of soda and beer) and we all save ours at our houses. We've raised hundreds already.
Save all of your birthday and holiday money.
