Tube stack for arena rock band!

There are people who just don't like SS heads as much as tube amps. I am one of them. I don't know why folks go out of their way trying to convince people otherwise.

We have well over 20 pages of a perfectly crazy-ass thread here. Now don't go turning into a tube/ss thing.

It's a tube stage pre and MOSFET power...it has a nice para eq and a really nice compressor

hold your horses bud thats way too many knobs and gadgets for me in the pre. i already have alembic picked out if if can get a solid answer about the power...do you like the mosfet for getting that feedback in the upper mids i want to get from the 12"s and the pounding mids from the 10s, wind from the 15s.

Well if you are going the pre/power route I'd do the Alembic/crown setup. You have enough cab chosen to get that feeling, it's more or less just getting enough power for the cabs.

oh yea and i was saying that im using a mosfet bass-drive by fulltone to get the trashy singing tone andfor extra topend sustain, a clean boost after that and sometimes a micro-chorus from england i got on ebay

I'm saying with that much cab, either will. If you want the bloom though, you should do the 6550's

I'd use 3 Superbassman's. One for the 10's, one for the 12's and one for the 15's. That way you can dial up each of them for uppermid feedback, pounding mids and wind.

If I wanted bloom and overdrive, I'd look at a clean/overdrive blend with as many 6550 and speakers as my roadies could handle...

Too bad I'm my own roadie. ****.

PS I play a Ric with Roto 66. With some overdrive, there is no better grindy tone IMO. Although I do it with a VT-22 and 410. Not metal enough, eh?

Di'Addario's? I use their nickel roundwounds...got blend of attack and bloom. Plus, I didn't know there was a such thing as "nickel allergies", but it keeps some people from messing with my bass. Must be hell for them to count change. That's #cray.

Behold: ELP's 1974 rig. Triamped, solid state, JBL horns (lows, highs) and mid lenses.

Greg reported that his pants legs did indeed flap and the stage shook mightily.

He didn't report his bass neck exploding in his hands like an Orgasmatron but then he's English and they're renowned for their discretion and good taste in those matters
