Turn it around ... stupid customer stories.

I used to mix for the youth choir in my church. The director would always tell me to turn up the track in the monitor so that the kids would sing louder. Naturally all it would do is drown them out, so I started pretending to turn them up. He fell for it every time!

I also work at a music store and I've had a few similar experiences

One of the first sales I made went something like this
Guy: I'd like to buy a harp
Me: ok
Guy: what notes are they
Me: do you mean key? Because we have C, E, G and A
Guy: no, what notes are they
Me: C, E, G and A
Guy: ok give me a C

On we get tons of people coming in and asking if we sell CDs and DVDS and once my boss even got a phone call asking if we sold pencils.

A few weeks ago, a guy came in to look at amps for acoustic guitars and insisted on playing his acoustic through an electric guitar amp, and when my co-worker tried to get him to play through he just ignored him and kept calling him "Sonny". Finally, after he played through the electric amp, my co-worker got him to play through the acoustic amp and he asked him wether or not he noticed a difference and he replied "Yeah, there was a little bit of a difference, but nothing too noticeable"
The same guy was in a few weeks before that and bought himself a new Gretsch (one of their less expensive Korean models) and was trying to get a 60 dollar case for free, but everyone he asked told him it wasn't up to us, it was up to the owner, who wasn't in that day. His response was "but I've bought a lot of expensive things here"
he had bought a $120 dollar Squire acoustic and some books.

I worked at Circuit City. That place was full of stupid customers and stupid employees.

Tip: Do not hire 16 year old girls with no technical experience to sell computers
Tip: Do not hire ex cons and gang bangers to operate your warehouse after hours
Tip: Do not allow customers to take merchandise from the back of the store and return it at the Customer Service desk for CASH (they did fix this eventually)
Tip: Do not promote the most hated employee of the department to manager of the department because he immorally tacked the extended warranty onto people's receipts without their knowledge (only about 50% noticed it and came back for a refund, the store manager thought this was genius)
Tip: Do not allow your store manager to take a vacation over Christmas holidays
Tip: Make sure your credit card machines work on Black Friday, apparently people don't carry their checkbooks anymore
Tip: Do not expect that people coming to get a football signed by Ben Rothlesberger are also going to buy a plasma screen on a whim
Tip: Do not put the Star Wars Trilogy on all the big screens and expect me to help any customers that day :p

Geez. No wonder they went out of business. :D

A youngster is playing a beautiful Gibson Les Paul Custom thru some ss 8" Line 6 amp with the distortion totally cranked to 'fork in garbage disposal'.

After rakin' away for about 7-10 mins as I am finalizing a purchase, a rare silence envelopes GC as the youngster hands the 'Paul back to the salesperson next to me who asks him:

Salesperson: "What do you think?"

Youngster: "Didn't like the tone".

Him: "Man coach I can't run run today."
Me: Why?
Him: "I got autisim in my knee." (apparently meant arthirits)
Me: I see.

I teach inner city Special Ed. If they'd let me bring beer to work , it would be the most entertaining job...ever.

Customer: My computer doesn't work. It won't turn on. Nothing works.
Me: Are the lights on in your office?
Cust: Yes. Why do you ask?
Me: Please check to make sure the power cord on your computer is plugged into the wall.
Cust: Why? No one ever touches it. If anyone did, I'd fire them.
Me: If you could just take a look at it, it's always best to start from the source of a problem.
Cust: Okay(with a whine in his voice).
Me: (....waiting for him to get back on the phone)
Me: I hear in the background: *** happened here? Who did this?
Cust: Gotta go. (click)

I find out later the cleaning crew had accidentally knocked the cord out of the wall plug.

Don't know if anyone was fired.

work in a super market bakery. could probably tell a million stories if i could recall them all. alot of times we will put things on sale, yet no one can ever take the time to find it reguardless of the fact that it's usually right behind them when they come up to ask.

alot of the customers can never pronounce things right. like we make a jalapeno bread and they'll come up and ask "what's *ja-lop-in-o corn and chedder???". interestingly enough it's always a middle aged soccer mom type or today we had a guy in his 50's easily ask that. basically half the breads we make are called "artisan" breads..and half the time old and middle aged women always come up; "is this bread *ar-teash-in bread??" about 100% of the time it is and i always think to myself "wouldn't it be spelled "artesian" if it were to be pronounced that way???"

the one girl i work with whom makes the bread was asked by a woman about a four cheese bread; "does four cheese bread have cheese in it?!??":D

i was asking for ashbory bass strings and he said, i never heard of that guitar brand before. needless to say they didnt even know what a ashbory bass was. suprised me since they carry fenders for 80% of there guitar stuff.
