Two Basses

Hi guys,

So I replied to an ad on a local music forum posted by a bassist in my town looking for a band. He said he wanted to do something experimental, so I suggested we do something with two basses, which is something I have wanted to try for a while.

My question is; does anyone know of any bands that do this kind of thing? There's a local electronic sort of band that use some live instruments, which include two basses, and I think King Crimson did it too? Anyone have any other examples?

I'm recall 'Primary' by The Cure as having two basses, drums and vocals.

pretty sure that Death From Above 1979 is/was just two bassists and a drummer.

King Crimson did a 'double trio' in the 90s. Thrak is a great example, although I think one of the two bassists was using a Chapman Stick at all times. But both played it, so I never know which is which

My friend has a band that is called Kid is Qual. Lead bass and rhythm bass with a drummer, pretty sick!

I wrote a multi-layered tune that I used all of my basses on. 2 basses harmonizing, holding the beat. 2 basses harmonizing, playing mild background riffs. And one bass that I just went nuts soloing. Wish I had posted it or emailed it to anyone. It was on my laptop that was stolen last summer. GRRRRRRRRRR!!! Can't wait to get my hands on that dude.
