Two mini bass rigs

I just added another mini bass rig to my arsenal for my smaller gigs. Surprisingly, both of them put out a lot of volume and both sound very nice punching way above their diminutive size. I already had the Streamliner 900/210 Eminence 2510 cab ( & have two of those cabs) but just added the Ampeg PF-500 & 210AV. The 210AV is tiny (even smaller than my Eminence cab!).
i think that either one will actually easily be able to handle my medium sizes gigs without any PA support.

Cool! I've been super happy with my little single Deltalite 2510 II cab for what I need it to do. Sounds great with my friend's upright too.

Add a second 210AV for a little insurance against not having enough rig for the gig.

They are light enough, and can be found at fairly low cost used. I bought both of mine used for about the cost of one new one.

Also, consider a PF 112HLF as another (almost) mini rig cabinet.

Ive got a PF 500, and even though I have never had a problem with it, I would be afraid to run two 210AV cabinets very loud without having a backup amp if I was using it at a gig.

IMO, it doesn't seem that it would have an issue with two cabs.
although i like the AV as it is, i was actually thinking of trying two 2510's in it out of my other cab just to see what it would sound like with them. 2510's are rated at 250 watts RMS each and IMO could easily handle a PF-500.

I run a Bassman 100 into it, a pf20, and last Saturday for rehearsal, an Ag700. I was careful with the AG, but man that cab sounds great. So easy to move and carry as well.

Interesting idea. I’ve been using nothing but one of my 210av’s lately, but I barely even push the cabs as they are, let alone need to fire one up with the full treatment

Yeah I needed the 4 ohm…I wanted to use it with my Bassman 100 head originally. I’ve since used it with all the amps above as well as a TH350. I guess I could try it with my SVT in theory. Makes a potent cab with lots of mid character with the Alphas. I think they sound great stock, are cheap, light, easy to carry, look cool, and sound great IMO.

i just installed he 2510's in my AV. to me it sounds way better and more natural, and now it's a 4 ohm cab that can handle 500 watts.

I've got a 112hlf. I use it with my micro vr. It's a killer little beast rig

210AV’s do not cut it at all. Even with two they can’t keep up with a moderately hard hitting drummer. But, many other 2x10” cabs are plenty loud enough, but not the 210AV.

I don't know if anyone could get any more mini than my recent setup; two Phil Jones Double Fours linked via Line out to Aux In, making 140w. As well, I have a Carvin MB15 with a 115MBE cabinet that fits in an old lady shopping cart, very compact for two 15" and 250w.

i disagree. yeah it's not an 810 or a 215, but mine, especially now with the 2510's, can easily keep up with a moderately hard hitting dummer.

Now that your cabinet is four Ohms, if you built a second one, and ran them with a two Ohm capable amp, (Mesa Boogie Subway series?) you could be even more confident in the capabilities of the setup. It would be a fairly easy cabinet to build your own version of. You could build two of them while you are at it, and return the Ampeg you replaced the speakers in back to stock.

I only suggest this because I think you have too much free time and money on your hands, and that you need a project like this to keep you occupied.

One of my 210av's keeps up for me, two is more than enough. I use my SVT with both of them and i cant get past 3 on the volume. YMMV obviously.

johnk, I never had luck w/2x10 boxes of yesteryear but your use of the 2510’s seems a great improvement. Nice times for non-roadied bass players, innit?

I played a pair of those 210AV cabs for years, and a single cab for quieter gigs. They sound great!

The top one in this pic came to me last year in a sweet barter deal, but I have a Traynor SB200 head in there now.:

The tiltback wedge clips into teh back behind the head, making a little cable storage compartment. I know the owner of the bottom one, they should probably be reunited one way or another at some point. Mine weighs 25lbs. all-in and punches way beyond reason. Just killer on upright too. One of my Schroeder cabs had two OEM 2510s in it, always liked that cab even with for the slightly goofy 12/10/10 form factor.

I've been using a "mini" rig for over a year now without problems.
Keeps up with the drummer, too! But mine is much smaller than the OP's.
TC Elect BAM200 + 2x BC208 cabs vertically stacked and off the floor by 24".
It's my primary gigging rig now. The 4-10 and 800W amp have been sidelined.
People are always surprised at how loud this setup is. 50% of the performance is
getting the cabs off the floor and vertical mounting them.
